Dust from material such as paint containing lead,
some wood species, minerals and metal may be
harmful. Contact with or inhalation of the dust may
cause allergic reactions and/or respiratory
diseases to the operator or bystanders.
Certain kinds of dust are classified as carcinogenic
such as oak and beech dust especially in conjunc-
tion with additives for wood conditioning (chro-
mate, wood preservative). Material containing
asbestos must only be treated by specialists.
- Where the use of a dust extraction device is
possible it shall be used.
- The work place must be well ventilated.
- The use of a dust mask of filter class P2 is
recommended.
Follow national requirements for the materials you
want to work with.
5 Checks after unpacking
When the drilling machine is unpacked, it should
be checked that the machine is complete and that
it has not suffered any damage in transport.
6 Setting up the machine
The drilling machine must be stood on a level
surface (a bench or some similar support) to which
it can be secured by means of two screws such as
two M 10 bolts. When tightening thescrews or
bolts make sure that the base plate is not
distorted.
The parts of the machine that are coated with
anticorrosion agent should be carefully cleaned,
and the column should then be greased.
7 Vertical adjustment
of the upper part
After releasing the clamping lever (1) and pressing
in the eccentric lever (x) (see the illustration on the
title page), the machine`s upper part can be
vertically adjusted to suit the height of the
workpiece and the length of the drill bit that is
fitted.
The eccentric lever (x) serves as a safety device to
prevent the upper part from falling when the
clamping lever (1) is released.
Before the machine is put into operation for the
first time it is advisable to lower and raise the
upper part several times in case any water vapour
may have condensed between the upper-part
guides and the column since the machine left the
factory.
The clamping lever (1) is springloaded. It can be
pulled outwards and repositioned on the
hexagonal lug beneath.
8 Drilling depth limitation
- To drill without drilling depth limitation the
graduated ring (8) is drawn outwards as far as
it will go.
- To drill with drilling depth limitation proceed ad
follows:
- Draw the graduated ring (8) outwards as far as
it will go,
- by means of the feed lever (6), lower the fitted
drill bit until it rests on the workpiece, and hold
the feed lever in this position; then
- set the graduated ring so that the mark on the
ring which corresponds to the required drilling
depth, is opposite the top edge of the stop (7)
and
- push the graduated ring back inwards.
9 Tool change with Futuro
Top keyless chuck
Insert tool. Grip the retaining ring (9) firmly and,
with the other hand, turn the sleeve (10) against the
stop. To open the drill chuck grip the retaining ring
(9) firmly and turn sleeve (10) in the opposite
direction.
10 On/off switch with
emergency-Stop switch
• Switching on = press switch (3).
• Switching off = press switch (2).
11 Power-supply connection
Before plugging in check to see that the rated
mains voltage and power frequency, as stated on
the name plate, match with your power supply.
The socket outlet to which the drilling machine is
connected must have a properly connected
protective (earth) conductor that complies with the
relevant wiring regulations.
If an extension cord is needed it must be a three-
core lead with the earth conductor in good
connection with the earthing contact of the
extension cord's coupler and plug.
