E AE MODE button and MANUAL indicator
Sets the exposure mode of the camera to AE-AUTO
or MANUAL.
In AE-AUTO mode, the electronic shutter speed
and the camera gain will synchronously change
according to the brightness of the subject, providing
the optimum exposure.
In MANUAL mode, you may determine the
exposure by manually setting the electronic shutter
speed and the camera gain as desired.
The MANUAL indicator is lit in red in MANUAL
mode.
F SHUTTER (electronic shutter) control
Adjusts the electronic shutter speed when you set
the AE MODE button to MANUAL (the MANUAL
indicator is lit in red).
Turning the control counterclockwise selects high-
speed shutter mode and turning it clockwise selects
long-exposure mode. You may adjust the speed in
the range of 1/10000 sec. to 60 sec.
G AE LOCK button and indicator
Pressing this button with the AE MODE button set
to AUTO (the MANUAL indicator is off) fixes the
exposure value. The indicator lights in green.
To release the AE LOCK function, press the button
again.
H ENTER button
With the menu display: Displays the menu of the
next layer by pressing this button after selecting
a MAIN MENU item. You can also execute an
operation from a certain menu display, such as
the PC CARD INIT menu, by pressing this
button.
With the index display: Displays the selected
picture in full screen.
With the live picture display: When initializing
the focus indicator display, first set the angle
and brightness of the picture, then press this
button to register the settings.
I V/v/B/b buttons
With the menu display: Pressing the V (cursor up)
or v (cursor down) button moves the cursor on
the menu display up or down.
You can set the data on the menu display by
pressing the B (data down) or b (data up)
button. The B button changes an item to a
lower-value setting, and the b button changes it
to a higher-value setting. You may also change
the ON/OFF settings with these buttons.
With the index display: Selects an image from
among thumbnail images on the display. The
cursor to select an image moves in the direction
of the arrow on the pressed button.
J MENU button
Displays the MAIN MENU on the LCD monitor in
camera LIVE mode. When you press the button

again, the menu disappears. In capture mode, this
button does not function.
In PLAY mode, the menu for playback is displayed.

K EXIT button
When you press this button with a menu display, the
previous menu display is restored.
L LCD monitor
The picture being shot, a captured image, or the
playback picture of a recorded image on a card is
displayed. It also displays the menus, the list of still
pictures (index display), or various information on
shooting and still-picture playback.
M PLAY H/+/– buttons
Pressing the H button reproduces a still picture
recorded on a card. Pressing the + button
reproduces the still picture of the next larger file
number. Pressing the – button reproduces the still
picture of the next smaller file number.
When you press the H button again, the playback
mode is cancelled and the camera enters camera
LIVE mode.
N DISP/INFO (display/information) button
In camera LIVE mode: Displays on the LCD
monitor the information on the items set with
menus and the focus indicator. When you press
the button again, the display disappears. When
the power is turned on, the on-screen
information is always displayed.
In PLAY mode: Displays on the LCD monitor the
information on the items recorded on a card.
When you press the button again, the display
disappears.
O ERASE button
Pressing this button in PLAY mode erases the file
on the loaded card whose image is being displayed.
You can also erase the selected image in the index
display.
Notes
• An image erased using the ERASE button cannot
be restored.
• After erasing, the message "NOW LOADING..."
is displayed, then the next numbered file is played
automatically.
P EZ FOCUS (easy focus)/INDEX button
In Camera LIVE mode: Activates × 2 electronic
zoom for an enlarged image. To restore the
original size, press the button again.
In PLAY mode: Displays the thumbnails of still
pictures (index display) recorded on a card.
