11.2 Cleaning the lifting straps
• Clean lifting straps with clear water, without the
addition of chemicals.
• Lifting straps that have become wet during use or
cleaning must be hung up in well-ventilated rooms or
dried in the air before the next use.
• Under no circumstances may the lifting straps be
heated or warmed up directly.
• Limited indirect heating of the environment within the
temperature range is permitted for drying.
12. Discarding time
Lifting straps that have reached their
discarding time may no longer be used.
12.1 Criteria:
Lifting straps must be discarded if:
yarn breaks or yarn cuts in the
fabric of more than 10 % of the
cross-section of the lifting strap or
weaving edge incisions („weaving
edge tear") are present
a large amount of minor edge
damage occurs at short intervals
or the lifting strap is damaged in
the centre of the fabric
there is damage to the load-bearing
seams
there is deformation due to the
effects of heat (e. g. friction,
radiation) or crushing
the fabric is damaged due to the
effects of heat (e. g. flying sparks
or welding sputter)
non-replaceable fittings have been
deformed by overload or wear
(bending, notches, worn places at
the support points, etc.)
loops are badly damaged, e. g. due
to incisions or similar
the label on the product is illegible
or has been torn off
the lifting strap has been written on
with a permanent marker
12.2 Signs of defects or damage that could
affect permanently safe use
12.2.1 Chafing marks on the surface
Chafing of the surface fibres occurs in normal use and,
with continued abrasion, a loss of strength must be
expected. All major chafing, especially localised, should
be regarded as critical and the lifting strap must be
discarded in case of doubt.
Polytex
there is damage due to
the effects of aggressive
substances (e. g. acids
or alkalis)
