• In choker hitch, the working load limit is only 80 %.
• The „natural" hitching angle of 60° must not be
exceeded in choker hitch (Fig. 2).
• Never re-tension in choker hitch! The resulting frictional
heat can damage the attachment device.
• A lateral restriction (crushing), e. g. on a bollard that
is too small, leads to a reduction in the load capacity
of lifting straps and is therefore impermissible!
Angles of inclination ß
exceeding 60° are forbidden!
8.3 Arrangement on the load
• Place the lifting strap on the load in such a way that it
cannot slip on the load or even slip off the load during
the lifting operation.
• Do not attach the lifting strap to the load with a twist or
a crossover.
• Use a suitable strap and/or edge protection with rough
and/or sharp-edged loads.
• The lifting point where the lifting strap is attached
must be able to absorb the force introduced during
lifting.
• The seam pattern (Fig. 2) must not be placed over the
hook area, other lifting devices or component edges.
The seam pattern should always be in the straight part
of the lifting strap.
• Prevent damage to the label by keeping the label away
from the load, hook and hitching.

9. Daily inspections
The daily inspection is intended to detect
visible defects in the lifting strap and thus
to avoid unsafe conditions during use.
• The lifting strap must be inspected by the competent
person or expert for visible damage before and after
each use.
• The lifting strap must be discarded if any marking is
missing (see point 12).
• Never use a defective lifting strap.
• Damage, notches, strap damage, notched or bent
fittings, missing markings and other defects must be
reported directly and immediately to the expert. These
lifting straps may only be used again after documented
re-approval by the expert.
10. Operation/use
The basis for safe operation is, among
others, compliance with the following
points
• During the entire period of use, regular inspections
must be carried out to identify defects and damage
(see point 12.2).
• The lifting strap must be cleaned before the
inspection to ensure that dirt is not concealing
damage.
• The cleaning and inspection must also be carried out
for all fittings and accessories that are used together
with the lifting strap.
• If there are doubts as to its serviceability or if the
required marking has been lost or has become
illegible, the lifting strap must be decommissioned
and presented to the expert for testing.
• Perform a test lift before the actual operation. The
load may only be lifted to a height just above the
ground to check whether it is securely attached and
adopts the intended position. This is especially impor-
tant for the „wrapped" rigging method or another
loose attachment in which the load is held by friction.
