4.4. Noise levels

Silensys® condensing units have been designed to operate
extremely quietly.
Precautions must be taken during installation to avoid
generating additional noise and vibrations:
- Units must be securely mounted on a stable, rigid base,
- Connecting pipework must be sufficiently flexible to ensure
vibration is not transmitted to the rest of the installation.
We sometimes recommend isolating material be inserted
between the unit feet and the base or between the wall
mounting brackets and the wall. This can be either an isolating
pad or anti- vibration mounts (not supplied) conforming to the
manufacturer's recommendations for their selection and
installation. The selection of any anti-vibration products and
their potential for absorbing vibration is not the responsibility of
Tecumseh.
4.5. Mounting (1 or 2 options according to model)
Unit must be installed horizontally. All the feet length must be
in contact with the ground or wall mounting kit.
is securely fixed to the type of floor or wall surface upon which
it is mounted using the appropriated fixings (not supplied).
- Floor mounting
See Appendix
Do not use wooden beams as a base onto which the product is
fixed. Create a concrete base strong enough to support the load
and vibration. Use fixing bolts which are of an appropriate length
and are capable of securing the productcorrectly.
Use the mounting kit supplied with the condensing unit.
- Wall mounting
See Appendix
Use the mounting kit supplied with the condensing unit. Secure
the product appropriately.
Make sure that the wall bracket supports at least 250 kg pull-out at
the attachment point.

4.6. Access to connections

See Appendix

4.7. Refrigeration connections

To ensure the quality of our products, the condensing unit has
been dehydrated and charged with nitrogen.
On models fitted with suction tube diameter 1 1/8 or 1 3/8 the
suction line from the valve to the end of the tube is not under
nitrogen (the suction line is plugged and the valve closed).

GENERAL REMINDERS:
To preserve the quality of the TECUMSEH unit and ensure that it
functions properly, it is advisable to:
- Check that the circuit to be connected is clean and dry.
- Purge the system with nitrogen while brazing and ensure the flame is
held well away from electrical equipment.
- Insulate the suction pipe up to the compressor inlet to limit suction
overheating and to prevent condensation. For low temperature
applications, select insulation of a minimum thickness of 19 mm. Link all
lines with synthetic rubber tape and attach them to walls using clamps.
- Use only the refrigerant for which the compressor has been designed.
- For low-pressure compressor units, a thermostatic expansion device is
preferable to a capillary.
- Only use components that are compatible with the designated
refrigerant.
- Do not add any additives or dyes.
- Ensure tubing is installed in a manner which prevents oil becoming
trapped and aids the absorption of vibrations and expansion.
- Do not add oil, except in cases where piping is longer than 10 m; in this
instance, use oil recommended by TECUMSEH. If your installation has
vertical pipe risers, you will have to create U traps or reduce the
diameter of the pipework to get a sufficient rate of climb for the oil
circulation.
- Orientate the overpressure protection correctly in a direction that is
not dangerous for the user and in accordance with EN378.
- Cut and deburr the tubing carefully to prevent entry of dust and
metallic particles inside the system. Never use a saw to cut tubing and
use a correctly-sized tube bender based on the tube diameter to prevent
the pipe being excessively compressed. TECUMSEH recommends using
brazed connections instead of screw connections to limit the risks of
leaks overtime.
- Ensure the electrical insulation of clamps. We recommend that you put
in place a cable tray according to the standard NF C15-100 in France or
the local standard in the country concerned (IEC 60204/IEC 60335),
separating it from the refrigerant tubing.
- Protect the bodywork while soldering pipes.
See Appendix 1, for refrigeration connection
General design principles for pipework
Pipes must be located and installed in order to suppress or to reduce as
much as possible, damages linked to bumps and shocks.
Suction pipework
If the compressor is on the same level or lower than the evaporator, we
recommend that swan neck suction line is used where the top of the
swan neck is above the evaporator.
Liquid pipework
Pressure drop in the pipework must be prevented. The components
fitted to the liquid line such as the filter drier, solenoid valve, liquid line
sight glass can have a pressure drop which is significant.
The pressure drop per component should be checked to ensure it is not
excessive.
11
Suction pipework returns refrigerant gas
to the compressor from the evaporator.
In practice, the suction pipework should
be designed to limit the pressure drop.
If the compressor is located higher than
the evaporator, suction risers must be
used. Pipeline velocity must be sufficient
to ensure oil flow in the suction risers.
