• IMPORTANT
While charging, the charger and the tool may become warm
to touch; this is normal and does not indicate a problem.
Do not charge at temperatures below 0 °C and over 40 °C;
this will seriously damage the battery as well as the charger.
When you charge the battery for the first time, it only ac-
cepts 80% of its maximum capacity; after several charges
and discharges, however, the batteries should be at full ca-
pacity and deliver maximum performance.
Do not repeatealy recharge the battery after only a few
minutes of operation; this may result in a reduction of oper-
ating time and battery efficiency.
The nickel-cadmium battery must be kept separated from
the natural environment and should not be disposed of as
normal domestic waste.
! Prior to disposal protect battery terminals with heavy
tape to prevent short-circuit.
If you anticipate long periods of non-use for the tool, it is
best to unplug the charger from its power source.
On / Off & Changing direction of rotation
(fig. B)
SWITCHING ON AND OFF
Switching On: Press or release the On/Off switch 2.
Driving Screws: Press the rotational direction switch
through to the right stop (Left rotation).
Removing screws: Press the rotational direction switch

Inserting the accessory
Changing bits (fig. C)
Push bit to end position in bit holder.
To install a screwdriver bit 4 figure C, simply insert it into the
cavity in the bit holder 3 until it snaps into place. To remove
the bit, pull it straight out. If bit does not fit into spindle, rotate
the bit and re-insert it.
! Never use bits shorter than 30 mm.
! Do not use bits with a damaged shank.
Automatic spindle-lock (fig. D)
Allows you to manually tighten or loosen screws, when
necessary.
Two handle positions (fig. E)
The screwdriver can be set to different positions as shown
in figure E.
To adjust the handle, hold both halves of the driver and
"snap" the handle from either the straight position to the pis-
tol position or from the pistol position to the straight position.
The spring loaded pivot will securely "lock" your recharge-
able screwdriver in two positions.
Position 1 - for normal screwdriving.
Position 2 - for screwdriving in hard-to-reach places.
For optimal results when tightening/loosening screws
manually.

Application advice
Use the appropriate bits (fig. F).
! Do not use damaged bits.
When turning in a screw at/near the cross cut end or an
edge of wood one should pre-drill a hole in order to avoid
cracking of the wood.
For an optimal use of the tool a steady pressure on the
screw is required, especially while removing.
When screwdriving in hard wood one should pre-drill a hole.
Maintenace and cleaning
Unplug charger from power source before cleaning.
For safe and proper working, always keep the ma-
chine and the ventilation slots clean.
Keep tool and charger clean.
• The charger may be cleaned most effectively with com-
pressed air (wear safety goggles).
• Clean charging contacts in charger with alcohol or con-
tact cleaner.
If the machine should fail despite the care taken in manu-
facturing and testing procedures, repair should be carried
out by an authorized after-sales service centre for Skil
Power Tools.
Important: If for any reason the moulded plug is removed
from the cable of this machine it must be disposed of safely.
