8.2. REPLACEMENT AND ADJUSTMENT OF THE
BELTS
Before doing any maintenance work or repair work
on the machine make sure that the engine is stopped
and remove the spark plug. Carry out all maintenance
work with the machine on a flat surface and free of
any debris.
Remove the cover that covers the belt. Unscrew
slightly the screw that holds the belt box to the rotor
box (image 2.1).
Loosen a little the screws that hold the chassis to the
engine (image 2.3).
Move the engine block backwards so as to loosen the
belt with the tensing pulley. Remove the belts one by
one and substitute. Place the new belts, in the reverse
way as to that described above. Only use original
parts.
TIP: When you change the belts, it is easy to check the
distance between blades and the counter blade, as
the rotor can turn freely.
Tense the belts by moving the engine block forwards
using the tensing pulley and once you have found the
correct belt tense, block the engine by screwing to the
chassis.
Ensure, once the belts have been tensed, that the
pulleys are properly aligned. Carry out this process
through the use of a ruler. The belts will be properly
tensed when they can be tensed +/- 8cm (2.5
inches_) (image 2.4).
Once the new belts have been properly tensed and
levelled, check that the distance between the axis and
the pulleys is +/- 730mm.
Place the belt cover and place the exit chute back in
place.
Once the belts have been changed, allow the engine
to work for 5 minutes with no load. During this time,
check that the different parts are all screwed correctly
and that there are no strange vibrations.
Now the machine is ready for work.
8.3. CARE AND MAINTENANCE AFTER USE
Carry out the following operations when you have
finished the work to ensure that the machine is kept in
a perfect condition.
