When removing the plug from the wall
socket, never pull on the power cord;
always grip the plug itself.
Do not place the appliance on any surfaces
sensitive to heat during or immediately after
use.
Do not operate the appliance when it is
stored on the hanging loop.
This appliance is not intended for use by
any person (including children) with
reduced physical, sensory or mental
capabilities, or lacking experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given
supervision or instruction concerning the
use of the appliance by a person
responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure
that they do not play with the appliance.
Caution: Keep any packaging materials
well away from children, as they are a
potential source of danger e.g. from
suffocation.
No responsibility will be accepted if damage
results from improper use, or if these
instructions are not complied with.
This appliance is intended for domestic use
only and not for commercial applications.
In order to comply with safety regulations
and to avoid hazards, repairs of electrical
appliances must be carried out by qualified
personnel, including the replacement of the
power cord. If repairs are needed, please
send the appliance to one of our customer
service departments. The address can be
found in the appendix to this manual.

Locking mechanism

The appliance has a locking mechanism for
space-saving storage as well as for quick pre-
heating. To disengage the lock, push the two
arms of the appliance together and move the
locking-catch up. To re-engage the lock, push
the two arms of the appliance together again
and move the locking-catch down.
Before using for the first time
Clean the appliance and the heating plates
before use as described in the section 'General
care and cleaning'.
Operation
- The appliance is designed for use on dry or
moist hair.
- Insert the plug into a suitable wall outlet.
- Disengage the locking mechanism.
- Use the temperature control to set the
desired temperature level and turn the
appliance on using the On/Off switch. The
heating-up process starts and is shown by
the red indicator light.
During the heating phase, the appliance
should be left on a firm, heat-resistant
surface. Re-engage the locking mechanism
to speed up heating.
- The appliance will be ready for use after
about 2 minutes.
- Disengage the locking mechanism.
- Take each strand of hairs as close as
possible to the roots and place it between
the heating plates.
- Bring the two arms together on the hair and
start shaping the hair, beginning at the
roots and working your way out to the ends.
- Open the arms.
- Check whether the result is as desired.
- If you wish the shaping to be more
pronounced, repeat the process and allow
the heat to take effect for a slightly longer
period.
- Switch off the appliance and remove the
plug from the wall socket after use.

Temperature selection

To prevent the hair from being damaged,
always start with a low temperature setting. If
the hair can be straightened at that setting in
two cycles, no further increase in temperature
is necessary, as the optimum setting has
already been reached.
General care and cleaning
Before cleaning the appliance, ensure it is
