4.3 Application
CAUTION
Incorrect or excessively tight application
Risk of local pressure and constriction of blood vessels and nerves due to improper or exces­
sively tight application
► Ensure that the brace is applied properly and fits correctly.
NOTICE
Use of a worn or damaged product
Limited effectiveness
► Instruct the patient to inspect the product for proper functionality, wear, and damage prior to
each use.
► Advise the patient that the product may not be used if the product or part of the product
exhibits signs of wear (e.g. cracks, deformation, poor fit) or damage.
> The patient is sitting on the front edge of a chair.
> Open all hook-and-loop closures on the brace.
1) Optional: Fasten the pad for stabilizing the patella below the patella cutout (see fig. 7).
2) Hold the brace by the top edge on both sides and pull it over the knee (see fig. 1) until the
patella cutout is centered on the patella.
3) Fasten the hook-and-loop closures above the knee joint (see fig. 2).
4) Fasten the bottom strap for the lower leg (see fig. 3).
5) Fasten the top strap for the thigh.
6) Optional: Cross the top strap for the lower leg and the bottom strap for the thigh in the hol­
low of the knee to block hyperextension (see fig. 6) and guide the straps back to the front side
through the side loops.
7) Fasten the top strap for the lower leg (see fig. 4).
8) Fasten the bottom strap for the thigh (see fig. 5).
4.4 Cleaning
NOTICE
Use of improper cleaning agents
Damage to the product due to use of improper cleaning agents
► Only clean the product with the approved cleaning agents.
Clean the brace regularly:
1) Remove all metal splints.
2) Fasten all hook-and-loop closures.
3) Recommendation: Use a laundry bag or net.
4) Wash the brace in warm water at 40 °C (104 °F) with standard mild detergent. Do not use
fabric softener. Rinse thoroughly.
5) Allow to air dry. Do not expose to direct heat sources (e.g. sunlight, stove or radiator).
6) Reinsert the metal splints.
5 Disposal
Dispose of the product in accordance with national regulations.
