INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE - SAFETY AND MAINTENANCE
This machine must always be used as instructed in the manual. If you fail to do this, the manufacturer cannot be held responsible.
In the following cases, stop the engine and disconnect the sparkplug :
a) before clearing any clogged parts ;
b) before servicing, cleaning or repairing the machine ;
c) after hitting a foreign object, inspect the cutting equipment for damage, and repair before starting the machine and using it
again;
d) If the machine starts vibrating abnormally, check the whole machine immediately to see what is causing this : repair the pro-
blem with, if necessary, reference to a mechanic.
In the following cases, stop the engine and disengage all attachment drives :
a) before refueling ;
b) before removing the ejection deflector, for cleaning.
Stop the engine, then disconnect the spark plug, and wear gloves when removing the blade to change or sharpen it.
When you have finished, always reduce throttle to idle before stopping the engine (lever 1), then close the fuel cock.
To ensure that the machine can operate properly and safety :
a) Make sure that all screws, nuts and bolts are tight.
b) Check the condition of the ejection deflector regularly.
c) Replace wom or damaged parts.
d) Check for oil or petrol leaks.
Never store the equipment with petrol in the tank inside a building when vapours may reach an open flame, spark or high temperatu-
re source. Allow the engine to cool before storing it indoors.
Keep the engine and muffler clean in order to minimize fire risks.
Never lean or raise the machine while engine is turning.
Never trim slopes of more than 20%.
Only use genuine Honda replacement blades.
When operating the machine, wear appropriate protective clothing, particularly sturdy work shoes, long trousers and protective
glasses.
Check the area to be cut carefully and remove all stones, sticks, wire and all other loose objects.
The grass cutter must be used with the front shutter and the side deflector on. For heavy work front shutter should only be removed
if you are careful to follow the safety instructions and observe the safe distances: given below.
Before starting to cut an area, mark out the perimeter of the danger zone for third parties according to the instructions below. Put war-
ning signs round this zone, indicating that it is forbidden to enter the zone while cutting is in progress.
As debris could be projected over a distance of 40 metres, mark out the danger zone according to the diagram and referring to the
previous paragraph.
DANGER - petrol is a highly flammable liquid.
a) keep fuel in containers reserved for this use;
b) always refuel out of doors and do not smoke while refueling ;
c) add fuel before starting the engine. Never remove the reservoir cap or add fuel if the engine is running or still hot ;
d) if you spill petrol, do not start the engine. Push the machine away from the spillage. Keep away all flames and heat sources
until the petrol fumes have had time to evaporate.
Replace worn exhaust pipes.
Before starting the engine, always check that the blade, blade bolts and all cutting parts are not worn or damaged. Replace any
worm or damaged blade or bolts an entire set at a time, to keep the machine in balance.
Do not run the engine in a confined space where fumes containing carbon monoxide can accumulate.
Only use the grass cutter in daylight or good artificial light
Do not stop or start suddenly on an incline. Slow down on inclines and on close turns to avoid tipping over or loss of control. Be very
careful if you are turning on an incline.
