6 Fill in the fields to create an
extension. The fields vary depending
on the extension type you want to
create.
• Extension Number - assign a 1 to 20
digit extension number for the phone.
• Interface - select the physical port to
which this telephone is connected. In
our example "Slot B, Port 1, MSN 2",
"B" refers to the label of the extension
card slot on the X6004, "1" refers to the
port on the interface card that the ana-
log or ISDN phone is connected to (see
the figure on page 9), and "2" refers to
the second multiple subscriber number
associated with the trunk line. MSN
here is an internal ISDN extension

• Web/IVR/VM Pin Code - assign a
numeric password (4 to 8 digits) for this
extension. This is used for features
such as accessing voice mail and
using the web phone.
• Description - this field is optional.
• Authentication - The username and
password are used when registering
an IP phone with the X6004.
• Username - Use up to 32 alphanu-
meric characters (spaces are not allowed).
• Password - Select Customization and enter up to 32 alphanumeric characters (spaces
are not allowed).
