Instructions for the fitter
Read the instructions carefully before beginning to instal the
product.
Follow all the instructions as incorrect installation can lead to
serious injury. Incorrect installation may be a source of danger. The
installation must be carried out by qualified personnel. The installation, the
electrical connections and the settings must be completed in conformity
with good workmanship and with the laws in force. The manufacturer of
the motorisation device is not responsible for the non-observance of
workmanship in the construction of the frames to be motorised, nor for
deformations that may occur during use. The manufacturer of the
motorising device declines all responsibility in cases where components
which are incompatible with the safe and correct operation of the product
have been installed.
The window maker must check that the temperature range marked on the
operator is suited for the place of installation.
Do not install the product in explosive areas and atmospheres: the
presence of flammable gas or fumes represents a serious threat to safety.
Before beginning the installation check that the product is in perfect
condition. Check that the existing structure has the necessary strength
and stability. Before installing the motorisation device, make all the
structural modifications necessary in order to create safety clearance and
to guard or isolate all the compression, shearing, trapping and general
danger areas.
The safety devices (photoelectric cells, mechanical obstruction sensor,
emergency stop, etc.) must be installed taking into account: the provisions
and the directives in force, good workmanship criteria, the installation
area, the functional logic of the system and the forces developed by the
motorised window. The safety devices must protect against compression,
shearing, trapping and general danger areas of the motorised window.
Display the signs required by law to identity danger areas. Each installation
must bear a visible indication of the data identifying the motorised
window.
Before installing the operator, check that the sash (bottom or top hung) is
in good mechanical condition, correctly balanced and opens and closes
properly.
Make sure that during the opening and closing movement there are no
collisions between the sash and frame and that the sash does not hook
onto the frame. The sash must have free movement.
Set the opening and closing button in direct view of the window but away
from the moving parts. Unless it is operated with a key, it must be installed
at a minimum height of 1.5 m and must not be accessible to the public.
If the opening and closing movement is controlled by a fire protection
system, the windows with an opening greater than 200 mm (when open)
must be closed using a "biased-off" switch (normally open button).
After installation, make sure that the mechanism is properly regulated and
that the system protection and each manual release work properly.
Before connecting to the mains check that the rating is correct for the
destination power requirements.
A multipolar isolation switch with minimum contact gaps of 3 mm must be
included in the mains supply. Check that upstream of the electrical
installation there is an adequate differential switch and a suitable circuit
breaker.
Ensure that the motorised window has an earth terminal in accordance
Recommendations and safety standards:
- NB. The system has been tested to withstand a maximum of 40 km/h with sash open. Therefore connection to a Rain and Wind (Pv1) control unit and the
use of an anemometer are recommended.
- GIESSE products must be installed by specialised personnel with suitable technical skills.
- Perform the operations as specified by the manufacturer.
- The installer must check the installation and the correct functioning of the device.
- Do NOT use the product for any purpose other than the specified one.
- Use original spare parts.
- Use a "deadman" command if the window is at a height lower than 2.5 m from the ground.
Warnings for the fitter:
- Check that the window components used allow the operator to open fully.
If not, the parts subject to stress or the operator itself may be damaged.
- Crushing or trapping hazard! Place a "BEWARE of moving parts" strikers near the frame.
- The operator has a drive and thrust force of 300N/150N. The hardware and the fittings for the accessories must be able to support these loads.
- The window must have suitable support and safety systems; the operator cannot be considered as a support or safety device for the window.
- Do NOT touch the chain when it is moving.
- Keep outside the range of the window's movements when it is operating.
- The window must be fitted with limitation arms which are suitable for the weight of the window.
- Disconnect the electrical power supply when installing, adjusting and repairing the operator.

with the safety regulations in force. The fitter must supply all information
concerning the automatic, the manual and the emergency operation of the
motorised window, and must provide the user of the device with the
operating Instructions.
Packaging materials (plastic, polystyrene, etc.) must not be allowed to
litter the environment and must be kept out of the reach of children for
whom they may be a source of danger. For repairs or replacement of
products only original spare parts must be used.
Warnings for the user
These instructions must be kept and forwarded to all possible future users
of the system. The following precautions are an integral and essential part
of the product and must be supplied to the user. Read them carefully as
they contain important indications for the safe installation, use and
maintenance.
Do not allow children to play with the fixed controls. Keep the remote
controls away from children.
When actuating the button for opening and closing make sure there are no
people near the window.
When closing a window that was opened by a fire protection system, be
sure that other people are kept away.
Examine the installation frequently to rule out any imbalance from
mounting, signs of moisture or damage to the cables and the chain. Do not
use if any repair or adjustment is required.
Disconnect the power supply when cleaning the device or performing any
other maintenance work.
Keep remote control or any other control devices out of the reach of
children, in order to avoid possible involuntary activation of the motorised
window.
Do not obstruct the motion of the motorised window as this may cause a
situation of danger.
Do not allow children to play or stay within the field of action of the
motorised window.
Do not enter the field of action of the motorised window while in motion.
Avoid operating in the proximity of the hinges or moving mechanical parts.
In case of breakdown or malfunctioning of the product, disconnect from
the mains, do not attempt to repair or intervene directly and contact only
qualified personnel.
All cleaning, maintenance or repair work must be carried out by qualified
personnel.
In order to guarantee that the system works efficiently and correctly it is
indispensable to comply with the manufacturer's indications thus having
the periodic maintenance of the motorised window carried out by qualified
personnel.
In particular regular checks are recommended in order to verify that the
safety devices are operating correctly.
All installation, maintenance and repair work must be documented and
made available to the user.
This product must be used only for that which it has been expressely
designed. Any other use is to be considered improper and therefore
dangerous. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for possible
damage caused by improper, erroneous or unreasonable use.
Failure to comply with the above may create a situation of danger.
