7.4.1 Calibration points
The pH-2006 can be calibrated up to 5 points. However 3 points calibration is wide
used.
As a suggestion choose the calibration point following this criteria:
•
One point is always pH=6.98
•
If you are going to measure an acid solution choose pH=4.00
•
If you are going to measure an alkali solution choose pH=9.18
•
If you are going to measure in the whole 0...14 range use 5 points.
•
Choose calibration points, at less, 1 pH unit different between them.
pH-2006 recognizes, automatically 10 buffers. Buffers can have a value different
that the ones showed on the "Set buffer group" screen. Because the exact value of
the buffer can be entered manually.
To select the "Buffer group" (The buffers that are going to be used on calibration.
Point over «SETUP» on the screen «Standarization». A new window appears with
the standard buffers. Point 2 times over the desired buffer icon to joint or remove
from the group.
7.4.2 Calibration procedure
Note: To get an accurate calibration, be sure that buffers are in a well status (not
contaminated, caducity date, temperature, etc...).
1. Adjust Zero mV.: Place the "short-circuit stopper" (pg.13) in the "electrode
socket". See rear panel in 5.2 (pg.4). Press "SETUP", select "Zero(mV)" and press
"ENTER" to enter mV calibration panel. The meter displays "Adjust zero(mV)?".
Press "ENTER" to confi rm or "CANCEL" to exit to starting working state.
2. Check, in the bottom "starting screen" that the Buffer group is really what you
are going to use. See 7.4.1 to change it.
3. On the "starting screen" press «STD».
4. Press «Enter» to validate the process.
5. Immerse the electrode cap on the fi rst buffer.
Wait until the reading becomes stable.
6. Press «ENTER».
•
The pH-2006, must recognise the Buffer from the "Buffer group", and adds the
buffer icon to the bottom window "STD Result".
•
The window "End standardization?" is shown. Point over "Continue" or over
"End STD" to fi nish the calibration.
7. Clean and rinse the electrode cap with clean water.
8. Repeat the steps: 5. to 7. as necessary to calibrate in all desired points.
9. On the window "End standardization?". Point over "End STD" to fi nish the cali-
bration.
Non standard buffers or buffers at different temperature than 25ºC:
Adjusting the entry for Buffers that its value does not match with the actual value:
On the step: 6. instead to press «ENTER», press «Auto» and the «ENTER». The
"Type Buffer pH" is shown to, manually, enter the Buffer value and validate point-
ing over «ENTER».
