Maintenance

Single-beam photoelectric safety switch with LE 20
On a daily basis or each time before work starts, the operator
shall check as follows:
Full coverage of every light beam with a non-transparent test
rod (∅ ≥ 30 mm) in the following positions:
1. immediately in front of the sender
2. in the middle between sender and receiver or the
reflecting mirrors
3. immediately in front of the receiver
4. if reflecting mirrors are used immediately before and after
the mirror
This must result in the following:
- The outputs of the receiver of the respective single-
beam photoelectric safety switch must switch off;
- on the LE 20, only the red LED may illuminate;
- as long as the light beam is interrupted, it must not be
possible to initiate the hazardous state.
In case of fault stop the machine!
If, during the test, one or several fault[s] occur[s] or if test results
are not achieved, the machine must be isolated. The following
applies to all device combinations listed: If the green or the green
and yellow LED illuminates even in just one position at the receiver,
the protective device must be checked by a competent person. The
machine must then not be worked on.

7.1

Repair

The LE 20 and LE 20 Muting safety evaluation units do not require
any maintenance. If the 7-segment display indicates an error, the
appropriate corrective measures can be found in the trouble-
shooting table in Chapter 8.
Machine shutdown following unsuccessful troubleshooting!
If the remedial measures in the troubleshooting table do not lead
to fault correction, the machine must no longer be worked on. The
protective device must then be checked by a competent person.
