Fall arrest system
The FABA™ climbing protection sy-
stem is an integral part of the fall arrest
system that complies with EN 363 and
has to be assembled from the following
components:
1. FABA™ climbing protection rail
(EN 353-1)
2. FABA™ fall arrest slider (EN 353-1)
with integrated connecting
element (EN 362)
3. Harness (EN 361)
Inspection prior to use
The following parts must always be in-
spected for their serviceability and safe
state prior to use.
• Fall arrest slider (rollers, catches,
springs, locking lever)
• Snap-hooks
• Shock absorber
• Harness and any other products that will
also be used. In this case you must abide
by the instructions given in the respective
user manual.
Fall arrest slider and snap-hooks: No
deformation, rollers, springs and locking
mechanisms are easy to access.
Locking lever: Press the locking lever
downwards and turn the lock washer
with the axis to the right. Release the
locking lever and turn the lock washer
back completely. The locking lever must
engage and block the lock washer.
Locking mechanism: Feed the fall arrest
slider into the rail profi le and test it to
check that the locking mechanism can
be accessed easily and that it is also locks
correctly in place in the notches.
Shock absorber: The shock absorber
casing must be undamaged and there must
be no signs of cracks, incisions, abrasi-
ons, or burning, etc., on the webbing.
Regular inspections (revision)
The FABA™ fall arrest slider, depending on
the working conditions and how often it is
used, must be checked out by a qualifi ed per-
son trained and certifi ed by Tractel to ensure
that it is in the correct working state as neces-
sary or at least once every 12-months. These
inspections must be recorded in the checklist,
which must be kept with the fall arrest slider.
Implementation
You are allowed to use the EZ fall
arrest slider with the following
FABA™ climbing protection sy-
stems: A12, AL2, AL2-Mobil, AL2-
Mobil F.
The connection between the FABA™
fall arrest slider and the harness must
not be extended nor reduced,e.g. by
adding or removing a connecting
element.
1. The FABA™ fall arrest slider and the A12
and AL2 systems are asymmetrically desi-
gned. This asymmetry prevents the fall arrest
slider from being used incorrectly.
2. From a secure stance, the FABA™ fall
arrest slider must be attached at the entry and
exit points in the climbing protection rail so
that the arrow on the device always points
upwards. Never force the fall arrest slider
into the rail!
3. Move the FABA™ fall arrest slider slightly
upwards and downwards to ensure that it can
move freely and that it also locks into place
correctly.
4. Hang and lock the FABA™ fall arrest
slider's snap-hook into the sternal front
side fall protection fastening point on the
harness (/ A = sternal attachement point,
admissible fastening point on the harness).
