7.
When the green READY light illuminates, (allow 3 to 4 minutes) the Pie Maker is
preheated.
8.
Pull the handle latch lock up to unlock. Open the lid.
9.
Center each bottom pie crust over each of the 4 bottom pie crust molds, making sure
that the dough extends over the edge crimper (See Figure 4.)
CAUTION HOT SURFACES The Pie Maker cooking plates are HOT. Use a wooden
or plastic non-scratch utensil when adding or adjusting pie crust doughs and fillings.
Use caution. Do not touch the hot cooking plates with bare skin or hands.
10. Use the dough press to gently mold each of the 4 bottom pie crusts (See Figure 4.)
Figure 4
11. Use a measuring cup to add a heaping 1/4 to 1/3 cup cooled, pre-cooked filling into each
of the 4 bottom pie crusts. Do not overfill, crusts and fillings expand when cooked.
NOTE: 4 individual pie variations may be baked at the same time, as long as the baking
times are the same.
12. For 2-crust pies, center the 4 top pie crusts onto each pie.
IMPORTANT: The Pie Maker is designed to bake 4 pies at once. To avoid uneven
cooking, never bake less than 4 pies at a time.
13. Gently lower the top lid. Fold the handle latch over the handle. An audible click
can be heard as the latch locks the Pie Maker closed.
14. Various dough crusts and fillings require slightly different bake times. For puff pastry
or phyllo dough, allow pies to bake for 8 to 10 minutes. When using pre-prepared pie
dough or flour crusts, bake 10 to 12 minutes or until crust is the desired color.
15. The green READY light will cycle on and off as the unit maintains baking temperatures.
16. During baking, steam will escape from the baking pies and may emit an audible whistling
sound.
17. Wipe the Pie Maker body with a clean paper towel or cleaning cloth as necessary.
18. At the end of the bake time, pull the handle latch up to unlock and lift the top lid gently;
check the color of the crust.
NOTE: If the pies need to bake to a darker finish, close the lid and continue baking
for 1 minute additional or until the desired color is achieved. Be careful not to burn pies.
19. Remove baked pies from the cooking plate using a non-metallic wooden or plastic
non-scratch utensil.
CAUTION HOT SURFACES The Pie Maker cooking plates are HOT. Do not touch the hot
cooking plates with bare skin or hands.
NOTE: If additional pies are to be baked, keep the Pie Maker closed to retain heat.
Always wait until the green READY light illuminates before baking more pies.
20. When baking is complete, after pies have been removed, unplug the power cord
from electric outlet. Unfold the handle latch; open the top lid to expose the cooking
plates and allow unit to cool.
21. Do not clean until Pie Maker has been fully cooled.
