6 Electrical Connection
Interference of network data transmission due to missing terminator
The CAN network must be terminated at both ends of the network bus with 1 terminator of 120 Ω per end. If the
terminators are missing, disturbances in the data transmission can occur.
• Insert the terminator between pin B (CAN_L) and pin 7 (CAN_H) at both ends of the network bus
respectively.
Cable requirements:
☐ Cable type: cable with pair-twisted insulated conductors and shielding
☐ Conductor cross-section: at least 2 x 2 x 0.25 mm²
☐ Plug type: D-sub 9 (female, with holes)
☐ The maximum cable length in the network bus depends on the baud rate set and may not be exceeded. Example:
For a baud rate of 250 kbit/s, the maximum cable length is 250 m.
☐ Cables to be laid outdoors must be UV-resistant or routed in a UV-resistant cable channel.
☐ Sub-D9 plugs used for installation cables must have a metal enclosure.
☐ The cable shield of the installation cable must be connected at one spot on the outside of the Fuel Save Controller.
Procedure:
1. Insert the cable into the Fuel Save Controller (see Section 9.1, page 47).
2. Connect the cable at the PLC K100 to the terminal CAN (X7).
