• If a three-conductor utility grid is connected, the neutral conductor and the grounding conductor must be
bridged during each installed voltage measurement. Plug the supplied blue jumpers into the affected
terminals of the connecting terminal plate X200 (see Section 6.7.1 "Setup of the current and voltage
measurement", page 26).

Internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system

6.8.1
Requirements for the internal communication network of the PV diesel
hybrid system
All devices of which the Fuel Save Controller directly requests data or which the Fuel Save Controller controls directly
must be integrated in the internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system. These devices include the
inverters, the gensets, the SMA Inverter Manager / SMA Cluster Controller and the optional Data Acquisition Module.
The following requirements for the internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system must always be
observed:
☐ Only the Fuel Save Controller and devices of which the Fuel Save Controller directly requests data or which the
Fuel Save Controller controls directly may be connected to the internal communication network of the PV diesel
hybrid system.
☐ The nodes in the internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system are to be wired via star topology,
bus topology or via a star and bus topology combination. The star topology is recommended since failure of a
node in the star topology does not or only slightly affect the availability of the communication network.
6.8.2

Connecting the Communication to Inverters via RJ45 Network Cables

The communication of the Fuel Save Controller with the inverters in the PV power plant and the optional memory
system takes place via the internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system. With RJ45 network cables,
the Fuel Save Controller can be connected to the internal communication network of the PV diesel hybrid system. If an
increased exposure due to electromagnetic interferences is to be expected for the internal communication network of
the PV diesel hybrid system, the use of optical fibers is recommended.
When you connect the Fuel Save Controller with an Ethernet BASE-T network, always connect the network cables as
follows.
