DC TIG OPERATION
Parameter selection: choose TIG DC process, start by LIFT ARC or high frequency HF, 2T / 4T,
adjust pre gas time, arc current at start, rise ramp, full power current, drop ramp, current of the
arc at the end, post gas.
1. Pre-gas time: to avoid tungsten or workpiece contamination, select the pre gas time for argon
to displace air and protect the weld. The pre-gas provides protection for the area where molten
metal forms. It also creates stability when the arch is formed.
2. Current Adjustment: Adjust the arc below the maximum current.
3. Set ramp-up time: Time required to go from the minimum current to the maximum working
current.
4. Maximum or working current: it is the welding current. It should be adjusted according to each
process.
5. Set ramp-down time: Time required to go from maximum working current to minimum current.
6. Final current.
7. Post Gas Time: To avoid tungsten contamination or the work piece, select the post gas time so
that the argon displaces the air and the weld is protected. The post gas provides protection for the
weld bead while it cools.
