5.5 Transport
Transport of palettes with fork lifts
Pic. 21: Position of forks
Under the following conditions packages that are
tightened on palettes may be transported with a
forklift:
• The fork lift must be equipped according
to the weight of the transport units.
• The driver must be authorised to drive
the fork lift.
Loading:
1. Drive the forklift with the forks between or
under the beams of the palette.
2. Drive the forks in until they show on the
other side of the palette.
3. Make sure that the palette cannot tilt
if the centre of gravity is off-centre.
4. Lift package and commence transport.
Storage of packages
Store packages under the following conditions:
• Do not keep in the open.
• Store in a dry and dust-free space.
• Do not expose to aggressive substances.
• Protect from solar radiation.
• Avoid mechanic vibration.

General
WARNING! Risk of injuries due to
!
improper installation and initial

operation!

Improper installation and initial operation may lead
to severe bodily injuries or tangible damages.
Therefore:
• Before work starts make sure that there is
enough space for installation.
• Handle open sharp-edged parts with care.
• Take care of order and tidiness in the area of
installation! Parts and tools that are lying around
unattached are sources of accidents.
• Mount parts according to specifications.
• Secure parts to prevent them from falling or
toppling over.
Electric system
DANGER! Risk of fatal injury from
electrical current!
The imminent risk of fatal injury exists if live parts are
touched. Therefore:
• Before any work switch off mains supply and
secure against reconnection.
Weight of furnace
CAUTION! Risk of injuries due to
!
improper lifting of the furnace!
Due to its high weight improper lifting of the furnace
may cause back pain and injuries. Therefore:
• Exclusively lift the furnace as described in
section "Transport, packaging and storage".
• If necessary call an additional person for
lifting the furnace.
6.3 Installation
6.3.1 Installation of pre-heating furnace
Installation of furnace
Install the pre-heating furnace on an even surface.
Make sure that the installation surface of the pre-
heating furnace has sufficient carrying capacity for
the weight of the pre-heating furnace. Observe the
conditions of operation (» section Technical data).
CAUTION! Risk of ignition for objects
in the vicinity due to high unit
temperature!
Even during proper use parts of the pre-heating
furnace may have high temperatures. Combustible,
highly flammable or explosive materials in the vicinity
might be ignited. Therefore:
• Make sure that furniture and fittings are not
made of highly flammable or explosive materials.
• Do not store any highly flammable or combustible
gases or liquids in the installation area of the
pre-heating furnace
Extraction of vapours/gases
To exclude an accumulation of vapours and gases in
the room of installation equip the laboratory furnace
with a vapour extractor or catalyst and install under
an extraction hood (» section Installation of vapour
extractor and catalyst, connection of extraction
hood).

6.4 Connection to mains supply

Power connection
• 230 V-earthed socket
Thereby check for a secure protective earth
conductor connection! The earth conductor contacts
in the earthed socket must not be contaminated.
Observe requirements for electric connections
(» connection values in section Technical data).
6.5 Initial operation
6.5.1 Removal of transport lock
1. Open furnace door.
2. Remove transport lock (foam part)
from heating chamber.
3. Close furnace door.
6.5.2 Initial firing/first heating
Before the laboratory furnace is loaded for the first
time it has to be fired in so that a protective oxide
layer can form on the heating wires.
Therefore heat the furnace up to 1050 °C and hold
this temperature for 90 min. (» section Operation).
6.5.4 Adjustment of furnace parameter
The pre-heating furnace is delivered with
• pre-set time
• with standard parameters.
At initial operation it might be necessary to adjust
time and other furnace parameters to the individual
requirements.
NOTE! The FINOFORNO controller
does not automatically adjust to
daylight saving time.
Select and quit parameter mode
1. Keep Prg Key pressed.
2. Switch on furnaces using main switch.
3. Release Prg key.
Parameter mode is active.
Select parameters with⇦and⇨keys.
Modify parameters with Plus and Minus keys.

NOTE!
If Speed investment materials are used it is recom-
mended to select the switch-off temperature approx.
20 °C higher than the final temperature indicated by
the manufacturer. This ensures continuous operation
of the units for furnace exhaust extraction.
Quitting parameter mode
1. Select parameter P8.
2. Press ⇨key.
On quitting the parameter mode parameter
modifications are automatically saved.
