Safety

Safety instructions and safety equipment serve to prevent accidents and
damage when working on the collet chuck CAPTIS-M. The safety
instructions contain warnings and basic safety instructions. In addition to
the safety instructions in this chapter, the following chapters contain action-
related warnings. Maximum protection of personnel and the environment
from dangers and trouble-free operation is only possible when all safety
instructions and warnings are observed.

2.1 Intended Use

The collet chuck CAPTIS-M is exclusively intended for manually operated
clamping of workpieces by means of collet chucks and the adapter ABSIS-C
clamping mandrel. The collet chuck CAPTIS-M is suitable for rotating use in
lathes and for stationary use in drilling, milling and machining centres,
measuring machines as well as for conventional and manual handling.
The permissible usage and environmental conditions must be observed
(see Chapter 3.2 Technical Specifications on page 62).
Use as intended also includes that all maintenance work is carried out in
accordance with the intervals (see Chapter 8.3 Maintenance Interval on
page 90) .

2.2 Improper Use

If the collet chuck CAPTIS-M is operated for a purpose other than the
intended use as specified in these Operating Instructions, this is deemed
to be improper use.
Any utilisation beyond the scope of the intended use poses risks and is not
approved by RÖHM GmbH.
Improper use refers to the following:
Use of the collet chuck CAPTIS-M to clamp unsuitable materials.
Use of the collet chuck CAPTIS-M with missing or damaged
components.
Use of the collet chuck CAPTIS-M for suspending loads (e.g. as
a gripper).
Use of the collet chuck CAPTIS-M with unsuitable collet chucks.
Loading of the collet chuck CAPTIS-M beyond the defined limits.
