WARNING! Do not stare directly at the Laser beam.
The laser shall be used and maintained as detailed in this
manual.
Never intentionally aim the laser beam at any person and
prevented it from being directed towards the eye or an object
other than the work piece.
Always ensure that the laser beam is directed at the work piece
only when it is located on the mitre saw table. Never direct the
laser beam onto any bright, shiny reflective surface, the laser
beam could be reflected back towards the operator.
Do not change the laser unit for any other type.
Do not tamper with the laser unit except when making
adjustments.
Repairs to the laser must only be carried out by an authorised
service centre.
USING THE LASER GUIDE LINE
Mark the position of the cut to be made on the work piece using
a pencil etc. Adjust the mitre saw to give the required angle of
mitre and bevel cut as required. Place the work piece onto the
mitre saw table. Switch on the laser beam using the ON/OFF
switch. Using the laser guide line align the blade with the pencil
mark on the work piece. Clamp the work piece to the mitre saw
table. Plug in and switch on the mitre saw allowing the blade to
reach full speed before performing the cut. When the cut has
been completed switch off the mitre saw and the laser beam.
BTL305 - BTL212:
CHANGING THE BATTERIES
With the mitre saw disconnected from the mains supply, remove
the cover from the battery compart ment. Replace both (AAA)
batteries making sure that the replacement batteries are fitted
with the correct polarity. Replace the battery compartment cover
ensuring that it is correctly fitted. If the battery compartment
cover is not fitted correctly it could vibrate loose.
Caution! If this product is to be stored or not used for a few
days, the batteries must be removed. If left in the machine the
batteries could leak causing damage to the laser unit. Damage
caused due to leaking batteries is not covered under warranty.
LASER SET UP AND CALIBRATION (PICS.32 TO 36)
The laser unit must be correctly set up in order for it to be used
correctly. It is well worth spending the time to ensure that the
laser line is set accurately.
With the mitre saw set up correctly the blade should be at 90°
vertical to the table and the rear support fence should be at 90°
horizontal to the blade. These two angle settings are vital to the
correct calibration of the laser guide line.
Using a piece of timber approximately as wide as the maximum
cut of the mitre saw and with a true edge (a piece of white faced
melamine would be ideal) (Pic.32) (32.1). Using an accurate set
square against the true edge (Pic.32) (32.2), mark a thin sharp
(registration) line (Pic.32) (32.3) across the material at 90° to the
true edge. Place the marked material onto the mitre saw table
with the registration line approximately in line with the blade
(Pic.32) (32.3) . A decision is now required to determine at what
point is the cut to be made in relation to the registration line. To
the left of the line (Pic.33), down the centre of the line (Pic.32)or
to the right of the line (Pic.34).
SETTING TO CUT DOWN THE CENTRE OF THE
REGISTRATION LINE (PIC.32)
Lower the cutting head towards the material and align the
registration line with the centre of one of the blade teeth and
clamp the material in place ensuring that it is correctly located
against the rear support fence. Raise the cutting head and
switch on the laser guide line, the laser guide line should line up
exactly with the registration line (Pic.32) (32.3).
If the laser guide line is parallel with, but to either the Left or
Right of the registration line, adjust the laser unit by slackening
the laser clamping screws (Pic.36) (36.1) and then moving the
laser mounting plate (Pic.36) (36.2) left or right until the laser
guide line is aligned with the registration line.
If the laser guide line is at an angle to the registration line
(Pic.35) (35.1) this can be corrected by slackening the laser
unit securing screw (Pic.36) (36.3) and rotating the laser unit
(Pic.36) (36.4) either clockwise or anticlockwise until the laser
guide line is parallel with the registration line. If the laser guide
line is now parallel with the registration line but not aligned with
it adjust the laser unit left or right as described above.
Using the above procedures the laser guide line can be set for
cutting to the right and to the left of the registration line.

LINE (PIC33)

LINE (PIC.34)
