9.2 Shortening the spiral liner

NOTE
• New still unused spiral liners or PA liners have to be shortened to the
actual length of the hose assembly.
1 Slide spiral liner (1) through the wire feed hose (2) until a noticeable
resistance (6) is felt in the welding torch.
2 Determine excess length x at the central connector (2) and pull out spiral
liner (1) .
3 Shorten spiral liner (1) by the length x using the side cutting pliers (4) and
debur / sharpen the cutting point.
For cable assembly lengths of L= 2 - 4 m, the measure x is reduced by 1 -
2 cm. For larger cable assembly lengths from L= 4 m, the measure x is
reduced by 2 - 3 cm.
4 Sharpen the spiral liner beginning to an angle of approx. 40°.
NOTE
• Make sure that no wire coil projects into the bore of the spiral liner.
