is responsible for the correct
operation of the appliance.

Installation
instructions
Installation and repair
work are only to be carried
out by an expert. Prior to
starting work, always care-
fully read the installation in-
structions which are enclosed
with the heater!
These Installation and
Operating Instructions,
as well as those supplied
with the heating system,
must be appended to the
boat owner's handbook.
Intended use
These accessories have been
specially designed for the
installation of Trumatic liquid
gas heaters in sports boats
and ships. Other forms of use
are also possible after consul-
tation with Truma.
For the Truma liquid gas heat-
ers only use the respectively
associated cowls as well as
the stainless steel exhaust
gas duct and combustion air
intake duct, as the appliances
have only been tested and
approved with these parts.
(Refer to article number or
the installation instructions
enclosed with the heater).
Installation of the heaters with
a floor cowl is not possible.
The fastening components
of stainless steel required
for the heaters Trumatic E
are included in the cowl kit,
the parts enclosed with the
heater are thus not required.
Regulations
Any modifications to the unit
(including the exhaust duct
and the cowl) or the use of
spare parts and accessories
that are important to the
operation of the system
(e.g. the time switch) that are
not original Truma parts and
failure to follow the installa-
tion and operating instruc-
tions will cancel the warranty
and indemnify Truma from
any liability claims. It also
becomes illegal to use the
appliance, and in some coun-
tries this even makes it illegal
to use the vehicle.
The operating pressure of the
gas supply (30 mbar) must
correspond to the operating
pressure of the appliance
(see name plate).
In Germany, gas appliances,
cylinder mounting, duct rout-
ing as well as approval and
leak tests must comply with
the DVGW form G 608 for
liquid gas systems in water
sport vehicles.
For commercial inland
navigation, in Germany, the
„Guidelines for construction,
equipment, testing and
operation of liquid gas sys-
tems for domestic purposes
on watercraft vehicles in
inland navigation" (BGR 146)
must be observed. This states
that the liquid gas system is
only to be installed by per-
sons recognized by the inland
navigation professional cor-
porations and the gas system
is also only to be tested by
experts of this occupational
category.
In other countries installation
must be carried out in ac-
cordance with EN ISO 10239
(„Liquid gas systems; Small
waterborne craft") or in ac-
cordance with the technical
and administrative regula-
tions of the country in which
the craft is first licensed.
The liquid gas system must
be inspected regularly for
leaks, but at least once every
two years.
Gas hoses and waste gas lines
must be checked annually.
Selecting location
The device and its waste gas
conduit must in principle be
installed in such a way that
it is readily accessible at all
times for servicing work, and
can be easily dismantled and
installed.
Installation is only permis-
sible in living areas. Other
areas may be considered as
equivalent to living areas if,
for example, one or more
non-closable apertures of
about 80 cm² are present.
Installation in the engine
area is not permissible.
Installation of the device
and the gas supply is to be
effected as high as possible,
but at least above the bilge
water level.
Chimneys must be placed in
such a way that the penetra-
tion of waste gas into the
interior or the sucking in of
fuel vapours is not possible.
No windows, portholes,
doors, tank nozzles, or tank
bleeder apertures may be
located within 500 mm of the
chimney.
The waste gas chimney
must emerge outside roof
coverings which are capable

proof seal.
Assembly of the
condensation water
separator
(only Trumatic E 4000 with
deck cowl)
Fig. B: There must be a con-
densation water separator as-
sembled between the heater
and the exhaust gas double
duct, through which conden-
sation water can escape.
The exhaust gas double
duct is not to sag. The
con densation water separa-
tor must be positioned at the
lowest point.
Exhaust duct
The ends of the stain-
less steel exhaust ducts
are sharp. Make sure to use
working gloves when carry-
ing out assembly work!
Carry out the assembly of the
exhaust gas double duct (and
condensation water separa-
tor, if it is being installed) as
specified in the installation
instructions which are en-
closed with the heater. It is
essential that the specified
duct lengths are observed.
Always install a new
O-ring following any
disassembly!
Assembly of the
wall cowl
Fig. A: The exhaust gas
double duct should be
routed as an ascending curve
(„swanneck").
Carry out the assembly of
the wall cowl as specified in
the installation instructions
enclosed with the heater. It
is essential to observe the
specified duct lengths.
The wall cowl can also be
assembled in the cockpit.
There is then an obligation to
ensure that the cockpit does
not seal tight. For external
assembly (ship's side, stern
flap) the cowl must be as
much above the water level
as possible.
