EGC-BS-KF, EGC-HD-BS

Function and application
A recirculating ball bearing spindle converts a motor's rotation into linear motion, causing the inner
slide to moves backwards and forwards. The slide 6 is driven via an axially rigid connection through a
slot in the profile. A cover strip 3 covers the slot in the profile.
The slide is bearing mounted. The reference position of the slide can be detected using proximity
sensors in the slots aB.
The EGC-...-BS-KF spindle axis is designed for the precise position
ing of effective loads, while EGC-HD-...-BS is designed for the pre
cise positioning of effective loads with a large mass. It is approved
for slide and yoke operating mode.
Note
The EGC spindle axis is not braked: if the input torque is not applied, the slide is freely
movable.
Generally, self-locking of the complete system can be achieved by using motors with an
integrated spring-loaded holding brake or with high self-braking torque (e.g. for vertical
operation).
Please select the corresponding motors from our catalogue
(è www.festo.com/catalogue).
Using a Festo motor will ensure that the motor and spindle axis are fully compatible with one
another.
When using other motors:
Observe the limit values for forces, torques and speeds
(è 12 Technical data and 13 Characteristic curves).
3
Transport and storage
Take the product's weight into account. Depending on the version, the EGC can weigh up to 180 kg.
For transport, the transport belts must be spaced according to the permissible support distances
(support distances è 13 Characteristic curves).
The following should be observed with regard to storage:
– Storage times should be kept to a minimum
– Store in cool, dry, well-shaded locations that do not present a risk of corrosion.
