6. Hardware setup
Installing the Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
Refer to the illustrations on page 3 of this manual.
• Obtain a suitable HDD (not included), type SATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment).
• Make sure to unplug the device from the mains before servicing and do not touch any electronic
circuitry to avoid electrostatic discharge.
• Place the device with the LCD facing down on a flat steady surface. Be careful not to damage the
LCD.
• [1] Lift the plastic cover at the interconnection between the screen and the stand and release the
4 screws (see arrows). Remove the whole stand.
• [2] Remove the blank plate by releasing the two screws (see arrows).
• [3] Place DVR module as indicated and release the 3 screws (see arrows). Open the top cover by
sliding it towards the back of the module.
• [4a&b] Locate the power supply cable [A] and data bus [B] and connect them to the applicable
connectors of a hard disk drive (not included).
• [5] Insert the HDD into the DVR module and secure it with at least 2 screws (see arrows).
• Slide the top cover back on the DVR module and secure it with the 3 screws (see [3]).
• [6] Gently slide the DVR module into the monitor as indicated ([C1] must be next to [B]). Do not
force. Secure with two screws (see arrows).
Connecting the video monitor
• Connect the VGA input of the monitor [B] with the VGA output of the DVR module [C1].
Connecting a camera
• Obtain up to four suitable cameras (not included). Each camera needs its own power supply.
• Connect the video output of the camera to either video input at the back of the DVR. The number
on the cable represents the channel number. Video channel 1 = V1, Video channel 2 = V2 ...
Connector type is BNC.
