5.1
Removing tires
WARNING - Risk of accident as a result of
damage to tires or rims
Damage to tires or rims caused during remo-
val can lead to hazardous or even potentially
fatal situations when driving.

Heed the following Wdk fitting and removal
instructions on www.wdk.de (available in
German and English):

Tire warm-up
¶
Adjust the contact pressure to the type of
tire.
¶
Use the plastic rim guard for easily dama-
ged rims (e.g. light alloy rims).

Cracks occurring when working on cold tires
can result in the tire bursting at high speed.

Observe the minimum tire core tempera-
ture of 15 °C for RFT/UHP.
¶
Store the tires at a controlled temperature
prior to removal.

Remove all balance weights at the rim.

Always check all plastic guards for wear before star-
ting work. Replace the plastic guards if necessary.

Always establish the rim and tire data prior to remo-
val/fitting. The method of attachment, pressure and
accessories required can then be planned in advan-
ce.

Preparation for removal

Take care not to damage the tire valve on removal.
1. Use the appropriate tool to pull out the valve needle.
Completely deflate the tire.

Make the following settings before starting with the
unseating process:
2. Set the 4-position adjusting sleeve (Fig. 22) to suit
the tire width (see Tab. 5).
3. Set the angle of the bead breaker blade (Fig. 23) to
suit the tire diameter.
