General Notes
Ball diverter valves are high-quality valves that have to be handled with great care.
The sealing surfaces on the seal and ball are micro-finished in order to achieve the
necessary tightness. It must be ensured that no foreign objects get inside the valve
during installation and operation. In their as-delivered condition, the valves are to
be stored free from oil and grease in a dry and dirt-free area. The tightness of a ball
diverter valve can be impaired by hemp, Teflon tape or other sealants as well as by
welding beads or similar. Furthermore, rough treatment of the prepared ball diverter
valve during storage, transport and installation can result in the ball diverter valve
becoming leaky. If the ball diverter valves are painted, it must be ensured that no
paint comes into contact with the sliding parts.
When planning and arranging ball diverter valves, the following points must be
considered by the customer:
- The acting operating pressures (pressure shocks/pulsating pressures). The
pressures specified in the data sheet apply to static loads. For cyclic and
alternating loads, corresponding pressure reductions must be taken into
consideration.
- The selected materials and sealants must be suitable for the application.
- The connections of the pipeline and/or flange must have the same pressure
rating as the connections of the ball diverter valve and be of the same type.

Range of Application
Details about the scope of application of the individual versions can be found in
the data sheets of the manufacturer. When being used for oxygen, the operating
temperature must not exceed 60°C and the operating pressure must not exceed
40 bar. In the case of lower oxygen pressures, the operating temperature may
generally be higher.

Installation and Assembly
To ensure the proper function of the ball diverter valves, they must be installed in
such a manner that prevents impermissible static, dynamic or thermal loads from
acting.
In addition, prior to installation of the ball diverter valves, it must be checked
whether the existing ball diverter valves correspond to the required design and
are suitable for the intended application. It must also be checked that the ball
diverter valves are free from damage and contamination. If this is not the case,
the ball diverter valves must not be installed. Any existing protective caps are to
be removed. Installation must only be performed by qualified staff, and when the
pipeline system is unpressurised. Before the ball diverter valves are inserted, the
pipelines must be flushed in order to remove any residues. Such residues could
damage the internal parts, resulting in malfunctions or even the complete failure of
the ball diverter joints.
The pipelines are to be lead to the ball diverter valves in a tension-free state! When
screwing in pipelines and fittings, resistance must be applied at the ball diverter
valves using appropriate tools! After installation, the ball diverter valve should be
switched through once in order to test the function.
