a firm and level ground. Ensure unrestricted access to the cover to be able to carry out work on the unit. Push the union
nut over the open stepped hose nozzle (6), push or turn on the hose and secure with a hose clip. Insert the flat sealing
ring in the union nut and firmly screw onto the water inlet socket. Close the second water inlet with the closed hose nozzle
(except when fitting an OASE UVC clarifying unit, e.g. Bitron). Lay the hose such that it will not deform when walked on,
avoid kinks and connect it to the pump. Open the filter cover, tilt the screen insert upward, remove the separating plate
between filter and substrate chamber, insert substrate tubes (7) in the guide of the substrate chamber. Refit the
separating plate, tilt the screen insert down and close the cover.
Start-up
Switch on the pump, open the unit cover, set the water jet using regulator (3) at the water distributor such that it hits the first
third of the screen, close the cover. Note: The Biotec filter is a biological filter system and requires several weeks after its
first installation to reach its full biological effect.

Maintenance and cleaning

Adhere to the safety information given above! Only clean the filter when required, do not use chemical cleaning agents
to permit the filter biology to optimally develop, knowing that cleaning agents kill the bacteria in the foam filters. Clean the
unit immediately when the maintenance lamp flashes red.
Note: The maintenance lamp is supplied with power by a button battery. To check the charge, press the battery charge
button (1) at the maintenance lamp. Replace the button battery when the green LED is weak or has completely
extinguished (check correct polarity).
Cleaning the Screenex screen
Remove the lateral plug from the cleaning drain. Slowly reduce the flow opening using regulator (3) at the water
distributor. The increasing pressure causes a deflection of the water jet of the Screenex towards the collecting channel.
From there, the dirt water can drain through the cleaning outlet. If necessary, remove the Screenex screen and thoroughly
rinse from both sides under running water. Remove the residual dirt from the collecting channel, close the dirt drain using
the lateral plug.
Clean the trickle mat and the foam filters, clean the substrate pipes or change the substrate
Switch off the pump and open the unit cover, tilt up the screen insert and remove the trickle mat. Clean the trickle mat
under running water and re-insert, replace if necessary. To mechanically clean the foam filters, place the cleaning tool
(2) on a foam holder and compress the foam inserts several times; if necessary, remove the foam filters and rinse more
thoroughly in a bucket of pond water. Remove the separating plate between the filter and substrate chamber. Open the
cleaning outlet using the slide valve until the water has completely drained, close and switch the pump on until the filter
is completely filled with pond water. Open the cleaning outlet again and drain the water. Repeat this clear rinsing process
2 to 3 times. Remove the substrate pipes, clean under running water, or replace the substrate. Re-insert the substrate
tubes in the guides, refit the separating plate, tilt the screen insert down again and close the filter cover, them switch the
pump on again.
Storage/Over-wintering
Put the unit out of operation at water temperatures below 8 °C or, at the latest, when freezing temperatures are to be
expected. Drain and thoroughly clean the unit, check for damage. Remove and clean, dry and store the screen insert frost
protected, including all foam inserts and the substrate pipes. Ensure that the storage place is inaccessible to children.
Cover the filter container such that the ingress of rain water is excluded. Drain all hoses, pipes and connections as far as
possible.
Wearing parts
Foam filters and substrate filters are wearing parts and are, therefore, not covered by our warranty.
Disposal
Dispose of the unit in accordance with the national legal regulations.
