Electronic Data Sheet (EDS)

The EDS Electronic Data Sheet is an ASCII file specified by ODVA that
describes the objects and performance data of a bus coupler. The file
BDC-B-DN_32.EDS is available for the bus coupler.
The EDS file can be downloaded from the Internet at
www.aventics.com/mediadirectory.
13.2

Operating behavior

The behavior of the bus connection depends on the CAN and DeviceNet
characteristics as well as the I/O configuration.
As a "Group 2 Only Server", the bus coupler supports the "Predefined
Master Slave Connection Set" according to "The CIP Networks Library
Volume 3, DeviceNet Adaptation of CIP, Edition 1.5".
13.2.1

Start-up behavior

After the assembly has been switched on (connecting the 24 V
electronics supply), the hardware components are tested.
If the start-up test has been successfully completed and bus voltage is
available, the bus coupler is initialized according to the settings of the
switches.
A "Duplicate MAC ID Check" in accordance with the DeviceNet
specification is carried out at the end of the initialization stage to check
if there is a second participant with the same MAC ID on the bus.
The participant can then be initialized by a DeviceNet master.
