The facepiece is considered leak-tight if the pressure drop is less than
1 mbar (approx. 1 cm H
O) per minute. If the facepiece leaks, continue
2
with (2).
(2) Test with sealed exhalation valve
1. Remove the exhalation valve disc.
2. Plug in the exhalation valve test plug.
3. Produce a negative pressure of 10 mbar (approx. 10 cm H
4. If the pressure drop is below 1 mbar (approx. 1 cm H
minute, remove the exhalation valve test plug and insert a new
valve disk.
5. Repeat leak test (1).
Checking the opening pressure of the exhalation valve
1. Check the opening pressure using one of the mentioned test
devices.
The opening pressure must amount to at least 4.2 mbar
(approx. 4.2 cm H
O) at a constant flow of 10 l per minute.
2
2. If the opening pressure is not reached, turn the valve disk to get rid
of any particles lodged between crater and valve disk.
3. Repeat the test.
If the opening pressure is still not reached, replace the spring
(figure A2, 15) and repeat the test.
