2 Safety
2.1 Classification of important informa-
tion
This document contains important information that
is presented either as a warning, caution or note, ac-
cording to the following examples:
WARNING! Risk of personal injury
Warnings indicate a potential hazard to the
health and safety of personnel, and how that
hazard may be avoided.
CAUTION! Risk of equipment damage
Cautions indicate a potential hazard to the
product but not to personnel, and how that
hazard may be avoided.
Notes contain other information that is import-
ant for personnel.
3 Applications
Check max. working pressure (MPa) on the type label
of the reel. Ambient temperature: -10 °C - +60 °C, see
Figure 1.
4 Mounting instruction
The reel can be wall-, floor- or ceiling mounted, see
Figure 2
and Figure 3. Maximum installation height
above floor level is 4 m. Choose a way of mounting to
Hose Reel Series 883
avoid excessive bending of the hose against the out-
let rollers (A).
Select a level surface on which to mount the reel and
use the template on the side of the packing to mark
the holes. Ensure that suitable fixing bolts are used
and that they are secure. The bolts must each stand a
torque force of minimum 3800 N.
When choosing the mounting place it should be noti-
fied that the lifetime of the Hose Reel Series 883 can
be reduced by the influence of chemicals and strong
UV- or heat radiation.
5 Connection to the pipework system
The reel must be connected to the pipework system
with inlet hose only, minimum 1.0 m. The hose is to
go through the ring* which shall be fitted on one of
the brackets, see Figure 4. Check that the hose is not
twisted or strained after connection.
A stop valve is to be fitted on the pipe system before
the hose connection.
6 Ratchet mechanism
The Hose Reel Series 883 is delivered with a ratchet
mechanism which retains the hose in the required
outdrawn position, see Figure 5. The ratchet will dis-
engage if the hose is drawn out a little further and the
hose then recoils to the drum. It is to be noted that the
hose is to be held by the hand as long as possible dur-
ing the recoiling.
The ratchet function can be disengaged by remov-
ing the ratchet. In that case, the hose must first have
completely recoiled.
7 Selecting hose
When selecting a hose, see the dimension and work-
ing pressure on the reels type label. Also, see Figure 1.
8 Hose fitting
See
Figure 8
1
Place the reel on a suitable working bench.
2
Important! Ensure that there is no tension in the
spring.
3
Remove the plastic cover. Feed the hose through
the reel outlet and attach it to the nipple on the
drum shaft. Replace the plastic cover.
4 Mount the hose-stop close to the outer limit of the
hose.
5
Reel the hose on to the reel by turning the spring-
loaded hub with a tommy bar, see
5. Once the hose has been wound on to the drum
ensure that the right tension has been obtained
by turning the hub a further 3 revolutions for 3/8"
hose or 6 revolutions for 1/2" hose.
6
Fit the inlet hose, min. length of 1.0 m.
