Measurement with tubes in technical gases

CAUTION
!
The tubes are calibrated for measurements in air. For
measurements in technical gases using tubes, only the menu
"MEASUREMENT TECHN. GAS" shall be used. Otherwise it
will result in considerable measurement errors.
NOTICE
i
i
The "MEASUREMENT TECHN. GAS" mode is designed to
consider the different viscosity of a technical gas compared to
the viscosity of ambient air. Prior to this measurement, the
user must adjust the volume flow needed for the
measurement in technical gases.
Perform the adjustment and measurement as follows:
1. Connect the resistance tube (6527562) to the tube socket (gas-
inlet) of the Dräger X-act 5000.
2. Connect the resistance tube to the technical gas using an
extension hose of max. 1 m (3 ft) length.
3. Follow the instructions on the display.
4. Remove the resistance tube after adjustment.
5. Connect the extension hose to the tube socket (gas-inlet) of the
Dräger X-act 5000.
6. Connect the tube to be used both to the extension hose (max. 1 m
(3 ft)) and the technical gas.
7. Follow the instructions on the display.
For measurements in technical gases, the standard deviation (refer to
the instructions for use of the used tube) can be increased by
additionally approx. 10 to 15 %. The tubes listed in Chap. 10 can be
used for measurements in the technical gases.

Performing a sample taking measurement
1. Select "SAMPLE TAKING" from the menu.
2. Follow the instructions on the display.
3.2.5
Additional option to adjust the flow rate for a single
sample taking measurement
Additionally, it is possible to adjust the set flow rate for sample taking
if needed.
1. Connect the opened sample tube or system to the tube socket
(gas-inlet) of the Dräger X-act 5000.
2. Connect a flow meter to the sample tube or system.
3. Follow the instructions on the display.
4. When the "SET OK & START" prompt occurs on the display, press
the green "OK" key to start the measurement.
5. Compare the flow rate shown on the display with the flow rate
indicated on the external flow meter. If needed, adjust the flow rate
using the blue "UP" and "DOWN" keys.
The effects of the adjustment last only for the duration of the present
sample taking measurement. However, if the present sample taking
measurement is interrupted because the depleted battery must be
replaced, this set flow rate will be saved and restored along with the
other sample taking data that is already saved and restored until the
battery is replaced and the present sample taking measurement is
finished.
