18 Troubleshooting

18.1 Correcting faults in the pressure washer

Fault
The pressure washer does
not start, even though the
trigger of the spray gun is
pressed.
The pressure washer does
not start when switched
on. The electric motor
buzzes.
The pressure washer
switches off while in
operation.

Cause
The plug of the connecting cord or extension
cord is not plugged in.
The circuit-breaker (fuse) or the earth-leakage
circuit breaker has tripped. The circuit is
electrically overloaded or defective.
The fuse rating of the socket is too low.
The extension cord has an incorrect cross-
section.
The extension cord is too long
The electric motor is too warm.
The mains voltage is too low.
The extension cord does not have the correct
cross-section.
The extension cord is too long.
The plug of the connecting cord or extension
cord has been pulled out of the socket.
The circuit-breaker (fuse) or the earth-leakage
circuit breaker has tripped. The circuit is
electrically overloaded or defective.
Remedy
► Plug in connecting cord or extension cord
plug.
► Find and resolve the cause for the trip.
Engage circuit-breaker (fuse) or the earth-
leakage circuit breaker.
► Switch off other electrical consumers on the
same circuit.
► Plug the connecting cord into a socket with
the correct fuse rating, @ 19.1.
► Use an extension cord with a sufficient cross-
section. @ 19.2
► Use an extension cord with the correct
length. @ 19.2
► Allow the pressure washer to cool for
5 minutes.
► Clean the nozzle.
► Press the trigger of the spray gun and keep it
pressed and switch on pressure washer.
► Switch off other loads connected to the same
circuit.
► Use an extension cord with an adequate
cross-section, @ 19.2
► Use an extension cord with the correct
length. @ 19.2
► Plug in connecting cord or extension cord
plug.
► Find and resolve the cause for the trip.
Engage circuit-breaker (fuse) or the earth-
leakage circuit breaker.
► Switch off other electrical consumers on the
same circuit.
