3.15 Yearly appliance check and
service.
The following checks and service operations should be performed at least
once a year.
- Clean the flue side of the heat exchanger.
- Clean the main burner.
- Visually check the flue extraction hood for wear or corrosion.
- Ensure correct ignition and operation.
- Check correct settings of the burner in hot water and heating modes.
- Verify correct operation and adjustments of the appliance, in particular:
- operation of main electrical switch located outside the boiler;
- activation of the system control thermostat;
- activation of the hot water control thermostat.
- check the tightness of the internal system, according to the indications
provided by the standard.
- Check intervention of the flame failure device; intervention time must
be less than ten seconds.
- Visually inspect to check for leakage of water or oxidation of relative
connections.
- Visually check that the water safety valve drain is not blocked.
- Check that after discharging the system pressure and bringing it to zero
(read on the boiler manometer) the expansion tank charge is at 1.0
bar.
- Check that the system static pressure (with system cold conditions and
after recharging via the filling valve) is between 1 and 1.2 bar.

- Check visually that the safety and control devices have not been tampered
with and/or shorted, in particular:
- temperature safety thermostat;
- plant pressure switch;
- fume exhaust control thermostat.
- Check that the electrical system has been correctly maintained and is in
good condition, in particular:
- electrical power cables must be inside the cable duct;
- there must be no signs of blackening or burning.
