a. Computer Software Requirements
To update the version of the software on the controller, some software must be downloaded and installed to the computer that will perform
the update:
1. Open ARO webpage:
http://www.arozone.com
2. Follow the link to the Atmel software downloads.
3. Download the following items, making note of the folder you save them to. Do not "Run" from the remote location.
i. SAM-BA 2.12 for Windows (XP, Vista, Seven editions)
ii. SAM-BA 2.12 Patch 7 (Windows XP, Vista, Seven editions)
iii. atm6124 USB CDC signed driver for Windows (XP, Vista, Win7, Win8)
4. Navigate to the folder where the items were saved to, and execute the following items, in the order indicated:
i. 'sam-ba_2.12.exe'
ii. 'sam-ba_2.12_patch7.exe'
5. Navigate to the folder where the items were saved to, and extract archive 'atm6124_cdc_signed.zip' , making note of where you save
the extracted file to.
6. Disconnect power to the ARO controller by pulling the power cord (see block 16 in the installation section). Powering down the controller
is not enough.
Note: Do not disconnect the power supply from the controller (see block 15). Instead, disconnect the power suppy from the wall outlet
(see block 16). Disconnecting the power supply from the controller may lead to parameters values loss.
7. Connect the USB cable to the computer, making note of the actual port used.
8. Hold down the decimal point button on the controller and plug in the USB cable to it (see block 9 in the installation section). Then release
the decimal point button. The LED on the terminal board illuminates.
9. Open 'Device Manager' in the computer and find the new device under Ports ('GPS camera detect').
10. Right click the new device and select "Update driver software".
11. Select "Browse my computer for driver software", then browse to the folder location where file 'atm6124_cdc_signed' is located (extracted
in step 5 above).
12. Click next.
13. Click install.
14. Verify the installed device in 'Device Manager/Ports' is now 'AT91 USB to Serial Converter (COMx)' . Make note of the COM number.
b. Controller Software Upload
If section 3.a was just completed, skip to step 3 below.
2. Connect the USB cable to the computer, to the same port used in step 7 in section 3.a above.
3. Open ARO webpage:
http://www.arozone.com
4. Download the compressed file containing the desired new firmware version ('Controller.zip'). Extract the files, making note of where you
save them to.
5. Open file 'flash_program.bat' (see step 4 above) with a text editor (right click, select "Edit", select "Run"), and change the number in text
"set COMX=6" to the number noted in step 14 in section 3.a above. Save the file.
6. Hold down the decimal point button and plug in the USB cable to the controller (see block 9 in the installation section). Then release the
decimal point button. The LED on the terminal board illuminates.
7. Double click on file 'flash_program.bat' (see step 5 above).
8. Disconnect the USB cable.
9. Reconnect the 24V power supply to the controller (see block 16 in the installation section).
10. Turn the controller on (see block 17 in the installation section).
11. Verify the currently loaded version per section 1.a.
