3. LOCATION
Choose an appropriate location taking into account these criteria:
Vibrations and air drafts in the ambient must be avoided.
The supporting stand must be rigid.
The mains line must be stable. It is not advisable to use the same electric line of the fluorescent lamps or
other electric apparatus which can be switched on and off randomly.
The balance must be kept far from magnetic fields.
Environmental conditions with wide temperature changes must be avoided.
Ambient temperature above or below temperature in the table may affect the operation of the balance and
its accuracy.
In very dry environments electrostatic charges may build up, especially if glass or porcelain objects are used
and even more with plastic (plastic should be avoided in any case).
Both the balance pan and the sample to be weighed must be very clean and kept at the
