9.
STORAGE
Follow the storage instructions given in para-
graph
("5.9 Extended
storage") of this manual to
optimize the length of battery's service life during
storage. If these instructions are not observed and
on inspection, the battery has no residual charge,
it should be considered damaged.
Do not try to charge it or use it. Replace it with a
new battery.
1. Disconnect the battery from all loads and
charging devices, if connected.
2. Adequately protect the battery terminals dur-
ing storage to prevent accidental short cir-
cuits.
3. Store in a cool, well-ventilated place.
4. Avoid exposing the battery to direct sunlight
and/or UV rays.
5. Charge the battery to more than 80% of its
capacity before storage.
6. Charge the battery to about 80% of its capac-
ity every three months.

10. DISPOSAL AND RECYCLING
10.1 General information
• Always discharge the battery before disposing
of it.
• Use insulating tape or another approved cover-
ing on the battery connection points to prevent
short circuits.
• Dispose of the battery in accordance with local,
national and federal laws and regulations.
• The batteries can be returned to the manufac-
turer.
10.2 USA and Canada
LiFePO4 batteries are subject to disposal and
recycling regulations that vary depending on the
country and region. Always check and follow the
applicable regulations when disposing of any bat-
tery.
Contact Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corpo-
ration (www.rbrc.org) for the USA and Canada, or
your local battery recycling organization.
10.3 EC
Waste must be disposed of according to the rele-
vant EU directives and regional and local environ-
mental control regulations. For disposal within the
EC, the appropriate European Waste Catalogue
(EWC) code must be used.
10.4 Other countries
Many countries prohibit the disposal of waste elec-
tronic equipment in standard waste containers.
