4. Operation
4.4 Coupling of the semi-trailer
• Apply the semi-trailer's parking brake so that it does not move;
• The Fi h Wheel must be in the posi on ready for coupling
(chapter 4.2). If not, open the Fi h Wheel (chapter 4.3);
• It is recommended that the skid plate of the semi-trailer is at the
same height or no more than 50 mm below the top surface of the
Fi h Wheel;
• Slowly move the tractor vehicle closer to the semi-trailer, keeping
them aligned un l the Fi h Wheel engages with the kingpin. A er
coupling, the mechanism will lock automa cally;
• Try moving the tractor vehicle frontwards in a low gear to confirm
that the coupling has been carried out correctly.
• Make sure the Fi h Wheel is locked and the semi-trailer rests
properly over the Fi h Wheel (chapter 4.5);
• Connect the pneuma c hoses and electrical socket;
• Raise up the landing gears;
• Disengage the semi-trailer's parking brake.
Check the locking mechanism status before star ng any journey
(chapter 4.5).

4.5 Safety latch
• A er each coupling, check that the safety latch (1) is in the posi on
shown in the figure below, which means that the system is closed
and locked. If the latch is not fully lowered, the coupling procedure
must be repeated.
• The semi-trailer skid plate must be fully supported on the top
surface of the Fi h Wheel with no gap between them.
