The relevant safety regula ons for working with Fi h Wheels,
tractor vehicles and semi-trailers, as applied in each country, must
be observed. The safety informa on described in the opera ng
manuals of the tractor vehicle and semi-trailer to which the JOST
Fi h Wheel is fi ed must be observed and followed.

The following safety informa on refers to assembly, opera on and
servicing. Further safety informa on will be described individually in
the following chapters.

S afety information for operation
• Only perform the coupling if the Fi h Wheel, the skid plate and
the King Pin of the semi-trailer are in perfect condi on;
• The front of the semi-trailer's skid plate must not have any sharp
edges, otherwise it could damage the Fi h Wheel block;
• The coupling system and load capaci es must comply with the
standards and regula ons specific to each country;
• Only perform coupling or uncoupling on a surface rigid enough to
support the weight of the equipment;
• When coupling, it is recommended that the skid plate of the semi-
trailer is on the same line as, or no more than 50mm below, the
upper base of the Fi h Wheel block;
• Before star ng any journey and always a er execu ng a coupling
opera on checkcheck the locking mechanism and make sure the
Fi h Wheel is closed and locked.
