2. Weekly
A. Check the tension and the condition of the belt(s) (Figures 8.14 and 8.15).
3. Monthly
A. Lubricate the toothed rack 18 near the column and near the spindle head set with SAE 30 oil.
4. Quarterly
A. Retighten the bolts and nuts.
B. Check the actuation of the spindle return spring, and, if necessary, adjust it anti-clockwise, see orientations
on INSTALLATION Chapter 8.
5. Every 1000 hours or 12 months (whichever happens first):
A. Replace the spindle return spring and lubricate the pinion with SAE 30 oil.
B. Replace the absorber (rubber ring) of the spindle head set return.
Note:
The services related to item 5 should be done by the nearest SCHULZ AUTHORIZED DEALER.
13. CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE
To guarantee product SAFETY and RELIABILITY, repairs, maintenance and adjustments must be performed by the
nearest SCHULZ AUTHORIZED DEALER, which uses genuine parts.
14. FAILURE DIAGNOSTICS
Many times, what seems to be a defect at the first look, is something that can be solved by you, without the as-
sistance of a SCHULZ AUTHORIZED SERVICE PROVIDER. If the problem continues after performing the corrective
actions below, contact the nearest SCHULZ AUTHORIZED DEALER.
DEFECT
The drill bit locks in the
workpiece.
Overheating
Cracked base.
Drill bit does not drill

Too much force on the feed handle.
Loose belt
Loose drill bit
Excessive speed
Improper speed
Scrap buildup
Worn out drill bit
Improper drill bit for the material
Lubrication is needed
Improper force on the feed handle
Incorrect assembly
Loose belt(s)
Spindle does not turn – loose belt(s)
Loose drill bit
Poorly sharpened drill bit
Apply less force on the feed handle
Tighten the drill bit with the chuck key
Change the speed (according to the table in
Sharpen or replace drill bit
Use proper drill bit for material
Lubricate what is necessary
See item 2, Installation chapter, and take the
tool to the SCHULZ AUTHORIZED DEALER
Tension the belt(s) using the tensioner
Tension the belt(s) using the tensioner
Tighten the drill bit properly
