3. PREPARATION FOR USE / USAGE
Before using the grinding visor the following checks need to be
carried out according to the following procedure:
ʷ
Check if the visor is clean and can be seen through.
ʷ
Ensure the lens/grinding screen is correctly located and
firmly fitted to the helmet.
ʷ
Check if there are any defects such as bubbles, cracks and
deep scratches. Exchange the protection plate if necessary.
ʷ
Be sure the visor is seated properly (flat) to prevent fogging.
Big Vision Air (Grinding visor prepared for air) only:
3.1. Attaching the air hose to a Böhler helmet prepared for
air: Align the pins of the hose bayonet connector with the slots
in the air duct. Push the bayonet connector into the air duct
until it reaches the bottom of the hole and then rotate it gently
until the locating pins clip into place.
3.2. Directing the airflow inside the helmet: Regulate the
amount of air that is guided to your forehead by opening/
closing the rotating knob on the inside of the shell above the
viewing area. (see p.4 - Fig. 3 )
3.3. Fitting the face-seal: When the connected blower is
switched on lower the helmet to its down position. Pull the face-
seal with the respective tap over the chin and fit it properly
around your face and chin. The protective factor of the complete
system is reduced if the seal of the helmet is not fitted proper-
ly, for example due to beards or long hair intervening into the
seal line.
4. MAINTENANCE / SERVICE
The user is advised to make regular checks to ensure no damage
is evident. The grinding screen is a wear part and must be replace
with original Böhler Welding spare parts (see "7. PART LIST").
4.1. Replacing the screen (protection plate)
1. Ensure that the grinding visor is always fitted with a screen/
protection plate.
2. The screen must be replaced if broken, damaged or covered
with grinding spatter to the extent that vision is impaired.
3. The screen is a consumable and must be replaced regular-
ly with genuine certified spare parts from Böhler Welding.
4.2. Replacing the headgear
Exchange the headgear by unscrewing the knobs on the outside
of the shell. Replace the headgear and tighten the new one
back in as per the illustration (see p. 5 – Fig. 4)
4.3. Replacing the face seal
Remove the nuts and the screws holding the face-seal in place
replace the face-seal and gently fix it with the screws and nuts
in place.
5. CLEANING / DISINFECTION
The grinding visor and screen should be regularly cleaned to
keep it in a good working condition. Only use mild soap and
water in a wetted cloth for cleaning and a dry cotton cloth for
drying.
Apply the ordinary disinfection with a clean cloth or paper
towel. Do not apply cleaner directly to the lens. Alcohol and
other solvents are strictly prohibited as they will damage the
grinding visor and screen.
