Step 3. Scroll through the PPR list by depressing the up/down arrow. You can
use the list on the inside of the flip cover for a reference if need be. After
locating appropriate PPR press the right arrow (Next). If at any point you
make a programming error, you can back up by pressing Previous
(left arrow marked Prev).
Step 4. Make the choices for the adjustable waveform parameters for the given
PPR. The range of values for each parameter can be found in the PPR
description section of this manual. The value for each parameter is set
by pressing the up/down arrow. In the case of numerical parameters the
up arrow will increase the value on the screen and the down arrow will
decrease the value on the screen. In the case of logical choices, such as
symmetric/asymmetric, the up/down arrow toggles between the choices.
Step 5. Press Next to set the parameter and move to the next parameter.
Step 6. Repeat process until all parameters have been set.
Step 7. Your last choice will be whether or not to lock the device.
Choose YES or NO, then NEXT.
Step 8. The device will have locked in your selection and the screen
will say "ready".
Step 9. Set up patient with electrodes and ramp up the intensity.
3.3.2 Locking the Device
The 300 PV has been designed with a lock feature that allows the clinician to
setup a treatment regimen containing up to three unique stimulation programs.
This feature allows the clinician to be confident that the treatment instructions are
more likely to be followed by the patient during the course of treatment. When
setting up a PPR, the user is prompted by the software to choose to LOCK the
device. If the device is locked by the clinician, only those PPR's (up to three),
which have been locked, will be available to the user the next time the device is
powered up. The LOCK feature also allows the clinician to control the intensity
of stimulation. Once a single PPR is locked during programming, the device will
lock out all other PPR choices after powering off the unit. Thus, it is imperative
that the clinician program the entire treatment regimen into the device before
powering off. If the lock feature has been used incorrectly, the error can be
corrected. See the next section entitled "Unlocking the Device". The LOCK feature
works as follows:
Step 1.
Decide on treatment parameters for up to three stimulation PPR's for
use by the patient.
Example:
NMES PPR 1 for pre- and post-operative large muscle re-education
HV PPR 1 for post-operative increase in circulation
NMES PPR 7 for treatment of pain
