2.4 Selecting Program and Adjusting Stimulation
NOTE: THE FOLLOWING STEPS ASSUME THAT YOUR CLINICIAN HAS SET
UP THE DEVICE FOR YOU. IF YOU ARE UNSURE, CALL YOUR CLINICIAN
BEFORE PROCEEDING. THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW DESCRIBE ALL OF THE
BUTTONS YOU SHOULD BE PRESSING TO WORK THE DEVICE. PLEASE
NOTE THE "SETUP" BUTTON IS INTENDED FOR CLINICIAN USE.
Step 1. Connect the lead wires to the device. If only one lead wire will be used,
plug it into the Channel 1 output channel.
Caution: Ensure the device is OFF before connecting the lead wires.
Step 2. Power on the device by depressing the red ON/OFF button.
Step 3. Press the SETUP button from the first screen, according to the clinician
instructions, choose the appropriate treatment PPR by depressing the up
or down arrow in the central control cluster until reaching the appropriate
program. (See Fig. 4 on Page 17)
Step 4. Press the right pointing arrow (labeled Next)
NOTE: The screen should now list the name of your program and
display: "Ready."
Step 5. Begin treatment by depressing the intensity buttons found to the right
and left of the display. The intensity setting for each channel can be found
in the upper right and left hand corners of the LCD. Press the + arrow to
increase intensity and the – arrow to decrease intensity for each channel
independently. The yellow indication light will light up with intensity
settings greater than zero. The presence of this light tells the user the
device is functioning properly. Set the intensity to the level prescribed by
your clinician. Note: After setting the intensity to the appropriate level,
the indicator light will only be on when there is electrical stimulation
from the corresponding channel.
Step 6. End treatment by depressing the OFF button. Disconnect the lead wires,
and remove the electrodes by carefully peeling them off in the direction
that body hair lies. Clean the skin with mild soap and water.
Note: The electrodes supplied with your device are reusable. Please follow the
directions on the electrode packaging for the care of these electrodes.
2.5 Other Features
2.5.1 Changing the Batteries
Change BOTH of the AA batteries when the low battery indicator is visible
on the LCD, or if the device will not turn ON. Turn off the device to replace
batteries. Slide the battery door open by placing your thumb on the door and
pulling down. When replacing the batteries, be sure the battery polarity (+ and
-) markings match the markings on the device. Use AA alkaline or recharg able
NiMH batteries. The life of the battery is dependent on the program and
amplitude (intensity) being used. Do not overcharge batteries. Batteries should
