3) ENGINE PACKAGING AND STORAGE

RECOMMISSIONING AFTER
AN ENGINE STORAGE PERIOD
- Check that there is no damage to the
external engine components; remedy the
non-compliance, if necessary.
- Remove and thoroughly clean any for-
eign material deposits on engine compo-
nents.
- Clean the throats of the metal belt pul-
leys, using a suitable solvent. Install the
service belts.
- Check the integrity of rubber hoses and
sleeves and the tightening of the relevant
clips; replace the damaged parts.
- The surfaces and components protected
with "FL MECAFLUID / P118 V" protective
oil can be cleaned with a suitable solvent.
- Check the fluid levels: fuel (see page 26),
DEF fluid (see page 33), engine oil (see
page 51), coolant (see page 57)
If necessary, contact the manufacturer
of the vehicle in which the engine is
installed or a workshop authorised by
VM MOTORI FCA ITALY.
