Entering your area code

When you use this phone first,
or you move to an area of the
country that has a different area
code, you must enter your area
code.

Getting started

Insert the battery pack
For details, see the "Installing a charged battery pack"
section (page 14).
"NO AREA CODE" appears on the display.

Press PGM.
"<<PROGRAM>>" appears on the display.

Press CALLER ID.
"AREA CODE???" appears on the display, and you hear a
confirmation beep.

Enter three digits of your area code using the
dial keys.

Press PGM.
Your hear a long confirmation beep.
p To check the area code
1 Press PGM.
2 Press CALLER ID.
The area code appears on the display, and you hear a
confirmation beep.
3 Press PGM to finish.
p Notes on the area code
• When entering the area code, do not let more than 20 seconds
elapse between any two steps of the above procedure.
• Be sure to enter the area code correctly; otherwise the following
functions using the Caller ID service cannot be used.
– "Using memory match function with Caller ID"
(see page 27).
– "Calling back a number from the Caller ID list" (see page 31).
– "Storing a number into the speed dialing from the Caller ID
list" (see page 31).
