The battery packs will gradually
discharge over a long period of
time even if not in use.
!
When not using the handset for
an extended period of time, take
the battery out of the handset
and store it after charging for
over 10 hours.
!
If a power interruption lasts for
more than several days, or when
unplugging the base unit from
the AC outlet, remove the battery
pack from the base unit and store
it away.
p Battery duration
A fully charged battery pack in the handset will last
approximately:
• 10 hours in continuous talk mode
• 30 days in RING ON mode
• 2 months in BATT SAVE mode
p To determine the remaining battery power
Press the BATT CHECK button on the handset. The battery
indicator will give you the following information:

p If the battery becomes weak during a phone
call
The handset will beep every three seconds (battery alarm).
"BATTERY LOW" and "PRESS MUTE" appear alternately on the
display. Within one minute, you must exchange the battery pack,
otherwise the call will be disconnected.
To exchange the battery during a phone call, see the "Exchanging
the battery during a phone call" section (page 21).
p In case of a power interruption
The battery in the base unit, if fully charged, will provide backup
power to the base unit for approximately:
• 4 to 6 hours to remain in standby mode
• 2 to 3 hours to remain in the continuous talk mode
• 24 hours to maintain the data of the Caller ID list.
p When to replace the battery pack
• The battery can be recharged many, many times. However, if
the battery lasts only for a few minutes even after 10 hours of
charging, it needs replacement.
• To purchase a replacement battery, please visit your local Sony
authorized dealer or service centre.
Be sure to use only Sony BP-T40 battery.
Amount of battery power
Full power.
Some power.
Little power (Exchange the battery
immediately).
No power (Handset cannot operate any
more without charging the battery).
