HEADSET ASSEMBLY (INTERMEDIATE SETUP BEFORE FINAL CUTTING OF THE STEERER TUBE)
1 - Grease the upper bearing seat of your frame and
insert a bearing (12).
2 - Grease the lower bearing seat of your frame and
fork and insert a bearing (12), taking care to place
the outer chamfer towards the inside of the head
tube, then slide the fork into the frame.
3 - Grease and slide the compression cup (11) onto
the steerer tube until it reaches the upper bearing.
4 - Slide the junction spacer (10) onto the steerer
tube until it reaches the compression cup (11).
5 - To lower your position, insert as many 5mm or
10mm riser spacers (9) as required, taking care
to thread the hoses through. The round spacers
(46) can be used to reduce the amount of cutting
required or test your position before cutting. Place
them above the stem using the cover (47) provided.
6 - Degrease the stem (8) and install it by applying
firm pressure to overcome the stiffness of the hoses
and bend them to follow the curve in the stem.
7 - Insert the brackets (5 and 7). The bracket
marked R should be positioned vertically to the
right of the stem, and the bracket marked L should
be positioned vertically to the left of the stem. The
letters R and L must be visible.
8 - Check that the headset parts (8, 9, 10) are
perfectly aligned and pre-tighten the bolts (6).
9 - Insert the cover (47).
10 - Cut your steerer tube if lowering your position
by more than 15mm (see Expander Instructions). If
not, place the round spacers (46) above the cover
(47).
11 - Insert the expander plug (4) (see Expander
Instructions).
12 - Insert the screw (2) and the cap (3), then tighten
until there is no more play in the headset, without
exceeding 3 Nm.
13 - Finalize the assembly by the tightening screws
(6) to a torque of 8Nm.
NOTE : Once you have established your riding
position, we recommend that you assemble
the stem with the closed protective cover (see
Headset assembly: initial setup).
