Use with pollen barrel
In this machine you can use a special barrel for the extraction of pollen that is not included in the purchase of the
machine. In just a few seconds the machine can be prepared to perform pollen extraction.
To assemble the pollen barrel, it is necessary to loosen the blade first and then remove the dry barrel. It is also
necessary to remove the blade as shown in section 12.5 of this manual and separate the tension wheel as shown
in section 12.2 about 2 or 3 mm so that the introduction of the pollen barrel is easier and more careful. Finally, the
pollen barrel can be inserted into the main body of the equipment and place the front cover.
Master Products recommends keeping the pollen product below 0ºC before placing it in the pollen barrel to make
it easier to break down the trichome from plant matter. We can also mix the plant matter inside the pollen barrel
with dry ice to maintain a low temperature in the extraction process. The size of the dry ice should not be more than
8mm to avoid damaging the barrel.
Master Products recommends that plant matter within the pollen barrel do not remain longer than 10 minutes at
a time. The longer the product is inside the pollen barrel running, the lower the quality that can be achieved. The-
refore, the highest quality is obtained in the initial moments of the process. For good extraction, Master Products
recommends filling the barrel between 40% and 60% full.
11.4. Quality control
Observing the appearance of the flowers within the barrel is necessary throughout any trimming process. Proces-
sing or trimming time for batches of flowers of the same variety should be the same and is usually between 5 - 10
minutes. This value is determined in the first trimming process of a variety. After five minutes of processing, it is
necessary to stop the machine, remove the lid and inspect the product. The inspection must be repeated every two
minutes until the majority of the product is processed, that is, it presents a desired trim.
All the product must then be removed from the inside of the barrel and the flowers that should be processed again
must be sorted and separated. These must be introduced again together with more product of the same variety
inside the barrel and start a new process. The time elapsed in the first job will be that of the variety and once defi-
ned, it should be the same for the different batches.
When in some process, the majority of the product has not yet reached the desired trim, it must be left to work
inside the barrel until it is observed that the desired trim is reached.
When the trimming time of a batch relative to others of the same variety increases or the quality of the flowers
deteriorates, the equipment may need imminent cleaning or an inspection of the condition of the blade. See the
maintenance section below.
