NOTE: If you encounter a damaged or cracked battery, immediately enclose it in a plastic bag and contact your
local waste disposal agency or authorized Provider for instructions on disposal and battery recycling which is
our recommended course of action.
To change batteries in Battery Pack Style D (see fi gure 10):
1. Remove the seat and rear shroud. See VI "Disassembly and Assembly."
2. Disconnect the battery harnesses and tie-down strap then remove the battery pack from the Travel Scooter.
See fi gure 22.
3. Unzip the battery pack to expose the batteries.
WARNING! To avoid confusion when replacing batteries, replace one battery at a time.
4. Disconnect the black (-) and red (+) battery cables from the battery terminals of the fi rst battery.
5. Remove the old battery.
6. Place the new battery into the battery pack.
7. Connect the red battery cable to the positive (+) battery terminal of the fi rst battery.
8. Connect the black battery cable to the negative (-) battery terminal of fi rst battery.
9. Repeat steps 4 through 8 for the other battery.
10. Completely zip the battery pack closed.
11. Reinstall the battery pack then connect the battery harnesses and battery tie-down strap.
12. Reinstall the rear shroud and seat.
To change batteries in Battery Pack Style E (see fi gure 11):
NOTE: If your Travel Scooter is equipped with a lithium battery, do not open or attempt to disassemble the
battery box or attempt to replace the lithium battery within the battery box. Contact your authorized provider
for a complete replacement battery box.
NOTE: If your Travel Scooter is equipped with lithium batteries, refer to the lithium battery insert supplied
with your travel Travel Scooter and the owner's manual supplied with your battery charger for charging
instructions.
1. Remove the battery box from the travel scooter.
2. Turn the pack upside down.
3. Remove all screws that hold the battery box halves together. See fi gure 11.
4. Flip the battery box back over so the handle is up and remove the lid.
5. Remove the red (+) positive and black (-) negative battery cables from each battery.
6. Unfasten the hook and loop straps from both batteries.
7. Remove the batteries.
8. Put the new batteries back into the battery box (battery terminals up and facing toward the center of the travel
scooter).
9. Fasten the hook and loop straps around both batteries.
10. Reconnect the two (2) battery cables to the battery terminals. Make sure the red cable is connected to the
positive (+) terminal and the black cable is connected to the negative (-) terminal.
11. Replace the lid and carefully fl ip the battery box over so the handle is down.
12. Replace and tighten all the screws that hold the battery box together.
13. Reinstall the battery box back onto the travel scooter.
